A1. Who is Eithne? How to pronounce Eithne?
Eithne is Enya’s true name. "Enya" is phonetic spelling for Eithne (pronounced as ehn-ya). She chose to alter her name because as an artist she wanted to work under her own name, yet knew how many people would have difficulties in pronouncing her Irish name correctly.

"Eithne" is generally used to refer to the woman, whereas "Enya" is used to refer to all three people who are involved with the music: Eithne, Nicky and Roma Ryan.

Nicky and Roma are the couple who have managed Enya's career since the beginning. Nicky is the producer/ arranger/ manager and Roma is the lyricist. Nicky Ryan had previously managed Clannad.

Nicky and Roma have two daughters, Peria and Ebony. Their daughters were born in the 1970s.

Aigle, Trio, and Team Enya are all terms used by fans to collectively talk about Eithne, Nicky and Roma. Aigle is also the name of the recording studio that they use.

Enya was born on 17 May 1961 as Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin (pronounced Enya Patricia Brennan) in Gweedore (Ghaoth Dobhair), County Donegal, Ireland. Enya is the phonetic spelling of her name.

Enya's eyes appear to be several different colors, blue, green, brown, and hazel, depending upon the different photos or videos. It is possible she may wear coloured lenses for the photo/video shoots. People generally agree Enya’s eyes are probably not blue or brown, but either hazel or grey-ish.
B4. Is Enya married? She wears a ring.
Enya is not married. The rings she wears on her right hand are a Claddagh ring and a wedding band. Both of these belonged to her late grandmother.
B5. Is it true that Enya lives in a castle?
In 1997, Enya bought Ayesha Castle and subsequently spent about five years remodeling it. In a CBS Morning interview in 2001, Enya stated she had not yet moved in. At the time the interview was re-aired in 2003, she was living in the castle. Enya changed the name of her home from Ayesha to Manderley. Manderley is the name of the beautiful estate house that is in her favourite novel, Rebecca.

Enya’s parents are Leo and Baba Brennan. Leo runs a famous Irish pub in Min na Leice (Meenalech), County Donegal, Ireland, called Leo’s Tavern. Leo's son Bartley has now taken over the management. Leo’s Tavern has been the site of many performances from Leo, Baba, and other Brennan family members. With her busy schedule, Enya rarely performs there these days.

Clannad is an internationally famous Irish folk singing group consisting of Enya’s eldest sister, Máire, her two older brothers Ciarán and Pól (who left in 1990), and her twin uncles Noel & Padraig Duggan. Enya was a member of the band from 1980 until 1982, when she and manager Nicky Ryan left to pursue a solo career. The word "clannad" is loosely translated to mean "family."

Enya does not discuss her personal life, including her decision to leave Clannad. Eithne’s sister, Máire, has said in a number of interviews that the rumours of any problems between Eithne and Clannad are completely false. There is no evidence of any "family division" over this matter.

The discography at Unity is under revision, but has almost all songs and lyrics of Enya. If a song has no lyrics listed, it is either an instrumental song or a song with vocalizations instead of lyrics. Enya often uses this kind of “nonsense language” to enhance the music. These vocalizations are not words, hence there are no lyrics.

Rob Dic-kens was the chairman of Warner Music UK and is also the man who signed her with that label. He now owns his own entertainment company, Instant Karma.
Ross is Ross Cullum, who was an engineer on the album Watermark. Interestingly, the Ross Dependency is actually a location on Antarctica, claimed by New Zealand.

Enya has appeared on Sinead O’Connor’s album The Lion and the Cobra as well as Christy Moore’s album Ordinary Man. In the official discography you can find these songs under the section “miscellaneous.”

The song Boadicea was adapted and used, in three other artist's songs: Ready or Not by The Fugees; I Don’t Wanna Know by Mario Winans and You Should Really Know” by Pirates.
The Fugees used the song without official permission. The case was almost taken to court, but Enya decided to make a personal agreement with The Fugees.
Please note that Enya did not collaborate with these artists; they merely bought the rights to use a selection of Enya’s music. As the music is not Enya, these songs are NOT listed in the official discography.

Videos are available at www.enya.com/ in the Watch Tower area of the digital castle. The German Warner Affiliate www.enya.de features a few streaming videos of Enya.
All other files available on the net or through P2P are illegal files. Downloading these files is considered a crime by law. Exchanging information through Marble Halls about such illegal files or downloads is strongly prohibited and can result in membership suspension or termination.

Shortly after the original release of “Enya: The Video Collection," the collection was removed from the stores. The officially given reason was that Nicky Ryan was not pleased with the sound quality, and wanted to remaster it. It was recently re-released as part of The Very Best of Enya collection.

So far, ‘The Celts’ is only available in Region 1 format.

Enya has done promotional tours to promote her albums and has performed in a live setting on a few television programs. She has not performed since 1980, when she toured with Clannad. Enya currently has no scheduled tour dates.
