I was so glad last year to find out that one of the Universities in Sweden teaches Celtic languages, including Irish and Old Irish(Which is the first course I've started). Such a beautiful, complex, language! The other day our glossary included 'long' meaning ship. I thought that was amusing thinking about Enya's song 'The Longships'.

Complex is indeed the word for it! and Scottish Gaelic too. There is quite a bit of "Gaelic" (its name here) being taught in Nova Scotia, especially on Cape Breton Island. We once thought the language might die out, but so far it's still being used.

We once thought the language might die out, but so far it's still being used. I thought that Breton might be holding that tourch still - I have heard that they are rather fond of their Celtic past. Very interesting. Hopefully it will continue to exist and flourish in the way it's doing now - if not even better. My aim now is to do familiarise myself with several of the Celtic languages(academically) and then, if possible, work with preservation efforts.
