For those of you who have this CD, what do you think about it? I used to have it, but, a while ago, I gave it to someone as a gift, so I haven't re-listened (I made that word up ) to it in a while. I did like the Edith Piaf track.

I have it, have listened to it once, was underwhelmed. It's not bad, just...boring.

The two Enya vocals are very sweet and pop-ish. The rest of Enya's music is so-so. When I listen to Dreams or The Frog Prince, I have a hard time visualizing the vocalist as the same woman who sings Fallen Embers or WSTHH.
She done growed up!

Enya's voice is very young on ther tracks but I hear the motifd there that she will use in her later music (the "mmmm bah" sounds for example). I think the two songs are cute.

My curiosity about TFP is this: Why didn't Enya and Nicky do the arrangements themselves? I wonder if it came down to the fact that Enya's work on the melodies themselves was so slow that the studio was unable to give them time to do arrangements as well.
Or perhaps Enya didn't have enough experience to do much beyond write the basic melodies at that time. But, that doesn't quite ring true. It wasn't too long after TFP that they were asked to do the entire score for The Celts. Very puzzling....

Am I right in thinking that Enya's songs were never used in the actual movie?

The two songs which Enya sang were never used in the movie: The Frog Prince and Dreams. She did write instrumental music for the movie, which was used. However, it was arranged by someone else, not Enya and Nicky. I can't imagine why those two vocals weren't used. They're so sweet, that it seems like they would have been perfect for the movie and might have had some possibilities as single releases as well. David Putnam may be kicking himself in the rear over that.

I like her vocal tracks but the other songs she did just don't sound like Enya.

I like her vocal tracks but the other songs she did just don't sound like Enya. That's so true. It was kind of funny, I made an Enya compilation CD for a friend of mine, and she asked what was up with the Karen Carpenter sounding songs. I have those songs just for the sake of having them as part of my collection. After all, it is still Enya!

For me there are only two tracks worth hearing - Dreams and Frog Prince. A nice bit of enya 'history' I guess.

A bit childish, but great. I tried to find the movie in DVD, but never got. Maybe it worths just for History and for Dreams and The Frog Prince.

I think it's okay. I like hearing Enya's voice in those days, but the style of music is not what I know her for. Her style is much more my type now and suits her.

I like to listen to the two songs, just to hear how young Enya sounded. What amazes me is the difference between this work and Watermark or The Celts, the latter which followed just the following year.
She sounds very cute especially on The Frog Prince. Even the lyrics!

What amazes me is the difference between this work and Watermark or The Celts, the latter which followed just the following year. She sounds very cute especially on The Frog Prince. Even the lyrics! She sounds about 16 on The Frog Prince, instead of 23-24, and she doesn't sound like the artist who would sing Boudicea, March of the Celts, etc. a year later. It gets very mind-boggling to think that the same person who sang Dreams like any love-lorn school girl, would later sing Water Show the Hidden Heart 20-something years later. I wonder why Enya's two vocals weren't used in the film itself? I would have thought that Dreams of The Frog Prince would have been perfect opening and closing credits music.

This song is so sweet and she sound so young back then. I would rank The Frog Prince as one of the more memorable songs Enya has done. The song flows well and serves as a reminder that Enya can sing beautifully w/o voice layerings...
