If so, tell us about your experience. Pictures would be great too. ;D

I went to County Donegal back in 2005, and no prizes for guessing who originates from there Some may have already seen these, but I uploaded a gallery at the time which can be seen here.

Neat photos there, Angoid! I'll have to browse through them slowly.
I was in Ireland during the summer of 2005. I spent a week in Dublin and took side sides to Newgrange and Wicklow. I'd love to go back someday--Ireland is beautiful.

I was in Ireland in late 2000. We spent a couple of days in Dublin, and then drove out to Galway. Went out to the Aran Islands, went up into Connemara. Went down to Clare and into County Kerry. Spent 4 days on the Dingle Peninsula. Toured the Rock of Cashel in a driving rain storm. Climbed around innumerable beehive huts and ring forts. It was one of our very best vacations I think. I'd like to go back.

I've not only been there, but have lived there for many years too. Even have an Irish Ph.D. degree :-)
Hopefully I will find some time to post about Ireland in more details

Part of my family,on my father's side are from Galway, others from Cork and Dublin.Dued to my dad's working schedules at the time,I've lived my first 8 years in the suburbs of Galway,a place called Spidall, where the family has two houses. I used ti visit more than once a year, but lately my life has changed a lot(too much work!),and I don't see my irish relatives since 2005 there.Sometimes one of them pops up over here, which is excellent! I'm going to travel to Ireland with other students from university next week. I've been learning Irish for a year now, so I am allowed to take part in an intensive course. The whole thing will take place in a village in Kerry and the teacher told us that there will definitely be native speakers we can talk to. On the one hand, I'm looking forward to the trip. I love Ireland and it will also be great to learn more Irish. But on the other hand, I am a little bit afraid. Irish is a difficult language and I am still far away of being able to have real conversations. Fortunately, most Irish people seem to have a good sense of humor. They'll probably have fun talking to a bunch of Germans who struggle with their new language.

Ardens, you are so lucky to be able to do that. Kerry is a beautiful county, and we found the people there to be very nice, helpful and full of fun. What village are you staying in? How long is the program?

How long is the program? We'll stay in Ballyferriter, which is in the west of Dingle. In the morning, we'll get language lessons and in the afternoon we may make excursions in the area. After one week, we'll have to travel home again.

I know that village! We spent 4 days on the DP, and it was fantastic. You have to see the Fahan Group of Clohan huts (beehive huts) and Gallarus Oratory. There are a bunch of neolithic sites on the peninsula, and it's a wonderful place to walk and explore. I'm terrifically jealous in a good way for you. I love that place.

I have been trying to go for several years now, but when it comes down to it, it is so hard to spend the money on the airfare. Hopefully, things will be different soon and I will get to go. Problem is now I have a bunch of people who want to go with me. Some I don't mind, but the others want to turn it into some club hopping party scene. I'm way past that phase of my life. I don't mind a pub or two, or three, but I want to go for the scenery and history.
I think MH should arrange a group trip!

Why not go by yourself or just invite the few people you'd like to travel go to with you? If no one else is invited to the party.. why worry?
