This is one of the most aptly named songs I've ever heard. The sweep of strings reminds me of a brisk wind blowing autumn leaves across a broad grassy lawn. I see tree limbs moving back and forth in the wind and feel a nip of autumn frost on my nose. It's such an energizing song, and one of the reasons I love Enya's instrumental tracks. I wish sheet music were available for this song.
Any thoughts about this fantastic instrumental?

I have the sheet music for this song on my ADWR songbook.
It was originally titled 'Snow' which I think is apt also.

I've never looked at that songbook much, beyond the music for the title track and Pilgrim. I guess I need ... more coffee.

I always see choppy waves on a lake with this one, boats fighting the wind. It's an October-November day, sunny, blue skies, but brown trees and brisk wind. Autumn here, I suppose.
I agree, it's a great energizing song. I'd like to see a real orchestra play it--not the cloned girls in the Faked Strings, or whatever they call themselves.

I see leaves swirling down an autmnal lane with a frosty bite in the air! So visual....
I love the real strings in this, they make such a difference!

You can occasionally find the sheet music books on sites like Alibris or Abe's books, TC. I ought to find the ones I don't have and acquire them.

Sometimes they drop the price a few dollars and I'll pick up one that I don't have. I do have the ADWR songbook, but just plain forgot that Autumn isn't on it.

this is my favorite instrumental. I also see leaves and trees blowing in the wind. I see leaves falling and even some snow flurries flying in the air. It's hard to think about snow on a hot day like today but if I put the song on I can imagine it.

When I first heard this song I was really impressed. An instrumental that wasn't based on the piano...and her vocals in the song are beautiful. I don't have a beautiful description of how the song makes me feel like in the previous posts, but the song is energizing. Question: Does anyone else feel the sound quality could be a little more crisp or clear? It always had that muffled sound to me...like someone was holding a pillow over the speaker lol.

I remember hearing this song for the very first time and just being absolutely floored by it. There is just something to the melody and the music that still, to this day, gives me the same impressive sensations as then. I don't know what I particularly visualize, though it, to me, gives me the feeling of autumn, falling leaves and rawer weather.

I see it as a late autumn/early winter storm - the wind blowing wildly, the leaves falling, trees swaying in time to the music. I think it's one of her best instrumentals to date.

It is one of the few bonus / single B-side tracks released in Brazil. I like it too much.

It's one of my favourite pieces from Enya. I like how innovative it is, absolutely one of a kind. On first listening I could almost swear I can hear brass instruments β I have no idea how they made cellos sound that way.

I'm listening to that one as we speak. Seemed appropriate.
