As a side note, I keep reading over at Unity that this is just Warners attempt to get more money. Ok? What do we expect them to do? It's like saying Warner should be shamed for wanting to make money - like it's a horrible thing. A lot of people make money off any release, and that's fine with me - people have to be able to put food on the table at the end of the day. Yeah, of course Warner wants to make money - so does every business out there. Nothing new or unusual there. I just don't "get" that kind of statement. Warner is not a charity.

I'm still surprised the video collection isn't being released as a stand-alone. Could it be that there aren't enough music videos to sell at .. $20? (Amazon has the cd-dvd special edition at $23.)
If you have the music already, the plum in this pie is the dvd. If you don't care for music videos and the only time you play Enya is when you roll out your yoga mat, you get the cd only version. Though, price-wise, that's a surprise, too. It's $19 at Amazon.
All in all this is a curious release--two tracklists that seem oriented toward different listeners, but each track list could fit Enya, Nicky & Roma's personal "favorites" list.
I've noticed that Warner is putting out a lot of best-of releases this fall, so the Enya release makes sense. Pus, it's ten years since PTSWS. I'm gad to see it come out, not only because of the video collection, but because it keeps Enya's music fresh in the public mind a year after And Winter Came.

I agree that this is indeed a curious kind of "greatest hits" release, and wonder if the special DVD footage once alluded to will in fact appear - though so far there is no reason to think so. It would be great to listen to the three of them talk about the music. My yoga mat is reserved for Beethoven, but Enya has the reclining bike.

You have to wonder...well nice Christmas gift for someone, right! I will buy one...
Maybe I am missing something here...I think I have heard and seen all of this already...
They must have a strategy that the collectors, gift givers, Enya faithful, and a handful of new fans will buy the greatest hits collection...I guess that is a couple of million copies...
I think this is going to have a long selling cycle...
What movtivates you to buy this?

The fact that some songs have been re-mastered is not enough to make me buy more copies of stuff I already have.

*nods* I want the legal DVDs. I have only a bootleg, and the vocal track is not well-synched with the images.
Wasn't there some talk of having interviews on the DVD? Adding those to the DVD would be good value, but I"m not sure I'd purchase a completely separate DVD containing only the interviews.

I have a legal copy of the original DVD collection, so that's not a problem. I have all the music, so I'm not missing any tracks (except the long version of Aniron, which might be nice). So why do I want this? Okay -- I would have dvd quality copies of the three new music videos. Good .. good. I'm intrigued by the track selection and track order. hmm.. I could make my own playlist... Okay, having thought it out.. I want the dvd collection with the new videos, and I want it in Region 1 format so I can watch the videos on any tv/dvd player in the house, not just the one's with multi-region sets. The next question to ask myself is ... why do I want the single cd version as well?

I will buy it for the dvd collection. I am VERY excited to have a legal version that I can watch on the big screen. I may buy the CD as well, esp. if the booklet is quite different but I'm def. after the DVD first. You have to wonder...well nice Christmas gift for someone, right! I will buy one... Initially I was going for the DVD version only. For reasons mentioned by others, to have the three new vids (Amarantine, IITR and TAWR). But these tracklists are intriguing me and although I could make one of my own it would be fun just to listen, and have maybe different booklets. Moreover, it's simply easy to put it on and enjoy a selection of Enya songs in a row. The little collector in me just nudged its head Love, Phantas

I agree with all your reasons...I have always wanted to have the videos and I do appreciate have such a tracklist...I know that I could go out and buy the digital version and make my own tracklist of these songs, however I think the quality will be much better with the new CD.
I am going to buy this as a gift for a few friends, also myself...
One out-of-the-box reason that motivates me to buy this is that I want to support this music and this is my way of doing what I can...I really enjoy Enya's music and I really wish there were more artists producing this type of music...
thank you for your thoughts...

Maybe this is why Warner "suggested" a very best of release: Stats: PTSWS sold in excess of 13 million copies AWC has so far sold 2,228,500 copies I think Warner feels that a new compilation might bring in bigger bucks than AWC has so far.

Anybod else seen this. It's the Europe edition listed on HMV Japan.
Edited with great sorrow by Moe, as Proboards has a strict English only policy that we must obey. Castiel, can you perhaps post a link to the Unity post? Links are OK as far as R and I can figure out.
My apologies in advance, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do....

as I commented on it at Unity - the documentary and making of's are identical to the ones on the initial DVD video collection. I'm hoping they updated the " A Life in Music " part otherwise it's all just up to ADWR.

The one disappointment I have is that the A Life in Music documentary does not seem to have been updated. Since the name is the same, I think we're getting the original version. OTOH, I never expected the "biography" project that Nicky mentioned at Galway to really pan out, or to have been done so quickly that it would be ready this year. I had hoped that the track-by-track documentary for AWC would be included and maybe the EPK video that's on enya.com. I'm still very happy to have the music videos and to have dvd quality copies of the three new videos. This is still a good release.

I still have hope that, sometime in the future, one of the trio will put out some kind of book about their adventures. Roma is, to me, the most likely author. Speaking of which, I'd love to see her put out another book of her poems.
