The first Enya CD in a long time not to be nominated in the New Age category. Why - maybe because it was seen as a Christmas album? Any thoughts?

Yes, maybe because of that of christmas. Or people who judge this simply are sceptical. Or just have not heard the album enough. Or... as it is 100% my opinion, all this are political issues, being the quality of music put on a second plain. Enya has won many prizes, and even being quite cool to know she won another ones (she, Roma and Nicky really deserves them), I think that for her (them) the most important is what audience is feeling about the music.

*nods* I would guess it's because of the Christmas theme. Christmas and New Age don't match terribly well in many peoples' minds.

The New Age category fits none of Enya's albums well but the nominations were accepted. People would probably have gone too far if they had even put the Christmas album into this category, so they might not have dared it.

I think I mentioned this before somewhere...but there should be a category for seasonal album I'm not so bothered with it. I doubt Enya is. Either way, it's great if your work is appreciated by peers, but in the end you do it all for your audience. IMHO then. Love, Phantas
