Someone's passed this on to me, and I just gotta share. I didn't know that Enya performed May It Be at the World Music Awards in 2002. And she does it live, and she does a DARN good job of it! Watch & enjoy! www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nrCdCqgT_Q

That's definitely one of the better live performances I've seen from her! Cool--thanks for the link!

It's nice to find a performance or interview you haven't seen before, and this is new to me. Love her voice on this one. The dress reminds me of one that she wore in a publicity shot for the Amarantine Christmas re-release. I could have done with less cutting to the LOTR film footage.

I could have done with less cutting to the LOTR film footage. Amen. More enya! less clutter Btw, when I watched this the words and lips were at times out of synch; technically not a great video, but an important piece of enya "history."

Wow, thanks TC! This is a nice video. I think it proves that the "other" performance of May It Be suffered from a case of nerves. Even this video you can hear this same problem, but a much better performance overall. One day she will feel comfortable enough with going out on stage and owning her own song...one day...

There's a radio interview that Enya did for Amarantine (BBC? Elaine Paige?) where she mentions that the orchestra and director were somewhat below her line of vision and she had to take her cue from them. She was worried that she wouldn't be able to see the conductor. If you start off nervous, and you're on a major broadcast like the Oscars, it's difficult to pull yourself together. If Enya could appear on another Oscar broadcast now, it would be completely different.

I still think when she does perform, she doesn't put as much "umph" into it as she could. Of course not every song would call for that, but I wouldn't mind feeling more emotion from her performances. She Acts the emotions out correctly, but she doesn't convey them to me in her voice. However - I still love the WIITWN performance. She owned that performance.
