Having a burst of summer here too, 24C and sunny. Unusual for the time of year because it's the Glastonbury weekend, which is traditionally wet and muddy. However feeling releived that we're not getting the awful heatwave that's just over the Channel.

Heard about the all-time national high for France being obliterated by 2 degrees F, at a melt-worthy 115F/46.1C......poor wine grapes....

Nah, the French have come a long way since 2003. Air-con is quite common, particulalry down South. This short hot spell won't have much effect on the grapes, too short and too early in the growing season. The whole lot is begining to break down from the west. Even as we speak, rain is creeping accross Ireland and Scotland, today is cooler than yesterday for me.

Hope everyone is safe there! Have also been watching a webcam from Stromboli volcano, some very spectacular lava fountains there (and sadly some deaths and injuries as well)...
Stay safe indeed, wherever you are!

Increased chances for rain/storms in my corner for the next week...50-70% chances of the wet stuff, along with the high humidity making it feel like 105-110 degrees...have had heat advisories this past week...

Yesterday's unbearable heat + humidity is gone for a day or two. While I am no fan of winter, summer heat + humidity leaves me wiped after being out even a hour or two.

Looks like we're also into a heatwave starting next week here in Finland, as the latest forecast says it will be up to +25C and even above that for most of Finland for most of the coming week and into the next. I wish it wouldn't become too hot for me to continue cycling...

This past June had some very hot days around 40ΒΊC,but the rest of the month was a bit colder than average. The first half of July was a bit colder and cloudy;the heath wave that crossed Europe didn't affect us that much, but right now things are back to normal with temperatures around the usual 35ΒΊC.
The bad part of the situation is that we' had a severe drought, very lil' rain and the Summer fires are back again...

On the fringes of Europe, in Uk, it hasn't been quite so severe. However looking at a few days of high heat, with records likely to be set. However we've had acouple of good downpours so we are a long way from drought. It looks like the 'Iberian Plume' phenomena; where a finger of sahra heat pushes up the west coast of europe, is becoming a regular feature rathet han a once every few years event. Fortunately I'm in ther position to take a siesta from 12.00 till 6.00 and start functioning when the temperature drops. I think I'll finally have to do something very un-British and invest in air-conditioning.

Slightly cooler in the last couple days, mercifully. I am so ready for autumn.
It's time for some rain again. We've had to turn on the yard sprinkling system.

Hellishly hot, and grumpy. A little rain overnight, thankfully due to cool today.

Hellishly hot, and grumpy. A little rain overnight, thankfully due to cool today. Hellishly hot here as well, but no break in sight until (maybe) Thursday. Heat warnings out in the Canadian Maritimes, and pretty hot in the centre of the country as well. I'm in a cottage in a forest with no a/c. We have three fans running at the moment. Gah.......................

With the short heatwave now gone, things have turned more chilly mainly because of clouds and strong wind. No rain but today's maximum has been only around +15C.
