OK, we seem to agree this video is "odd" in one or more ways. How about we try to interpret it?
What does this video "say" to you? Does it have any meaning?
I'll post some thoughts after I have thunk them. ;D
==================================
However, I'd like to begin by describing the actions in this video:
The scene is a sudden downpour, accompanied by lightning (this evocative "lightning motif" will pervade the video). There are B.U.M.s in the rain (Beggarly Unwashed Men), one of whom places a newspaper over his head; a close, very close reading of this newspaper sees a 90% chance of rain today.
There is a fire pit, despite the rain, as we cut to Enya in a fetching long wig (fetched by Mush-Mush, one wonders?). She is getting very wet indeed, but the fire in front of her steams away, away, away....
A scruffy looking guy in a hat (he really does look like Keith Richards) inhales fumes from his home-made censer. Then, suddenly, we cut to Enya walking with three B.U.M.s, including Keith Richards. Then we get a fast look at a bunch of guys digging in the ground near a Standing Stone (perhaps Mick?).
Enya is now getting blown by the wind, when we cut to a guy in an Irish cap surrounded by haze; as she is singing of men from the sun at this point, this fellow must have wandered in from another video set.
At 1.20 of the video Enya's eyes start to glow in a greenish fashion, a clear foreshadowing of what is to come. But, right then, we cut to a new version of the Sistine Chapel, with God and Adam reaching towards each other as electricity flows from their arcing fingers. How cool is that!
Cut to Enya, now reclining on what looks like a dart board with legs. Her hair has now shorted out, and flames appear around her. Then a guy in a white coat (we all knew this was coming, eh?) plays with a lot of dials, not very well though, and his gizmo might flame up at any time.
Enya remains on the dart board, with a mysterious, partially clad figure standing behind her. Lightning cracks again, as two aristocratic looking people (one male, one female) walk unconcerned behind her. They seem to have umbrellas but decide not to use them.
A tunnel effect subsumes Enya, but she gamely looks right at the camera, though her face then fades into a hilly landscape.
The guitar solo begins: the guy in the white coat remains at his dials. Then a ghostly cellist appears, before we go back to the white coat guy, whose gizmo is now smoking.
A red car arrives on the scene, probably belonging to the local fire brigade. It encounters a white car minding its own business, while what looks like an amazon in sunglasses watches.
Back to Enya, now shorting her trademark "Orinoco Flow" hairstyle, and wearing oval earrings. She starts to walk by a building from which smoke emanates. She is approaching the innocent white car -- will it survive? No, she raises her right arm and points at the little white car - which is engulfed in flames, and burns as the video ends with more strikes of lightning.
Surely, this makes perfect sense to us all.
