Sport and Physical Fitness
Do you play any sports, now or when you were younger? Do you follow any sports teams or events? If so, which? Do schools and universities have a sports component where you live? Is a physical fitness class required? What do you do as an adult to keep yourself physically fit? Any interesting injuries from playing your sport or activity?

Due to my congenital disability (spina bifida), I have my weekly physiotherapy session, and usually we go to the adjacent gym for that (in case I don't need any massage). And as I've already mentioned, I do a lot of cycling in the summertime with my parents, using my trike. As I cannot feel anything down my calves, I have to be very careful and not get any blisters to my ankles/toes, plus I need to be careful not to overstrain my legs, especially my right knee which has osteochondritis dissecans which can cause knee pain. On the other hand, I need to avoid getting overweight as well, and as I cannot go swimming at all (due to an increased UTI risk), cycling is a better way for me to keep fit.
Physical education is compulsory in Finnish schools, but as the teachers didn't know how to take my disability into account, I was pretty much doing whatever I wanted, and usually that meant pure laziness! There are plenty of sports clubs in Finnish universities, but those are mainly for true sports doers (except some take-it-easy groups and scouts groups).

Sport and Physical FitnessDo you play any sports, now or when you were younger? When I was younger I loved sports: played baseball, touch football and tennis. Just with local kids, not "organized" in any way.Do you follow any sports teams or events? If so, which? I love watching ice skating Do schools and universities have a sports component where you live? Is a physical fitness class required? Most schools do require physical fitness classes. Not universities, though. What do you do as an adult to keep yourself physically fit? Mainly I walk - a lot, as I do not drive. I also have an exercise bike.Any interesting injuries from playing your sport or activity? Not that I would want to mention online!

Do schools and universities have a sports component where you live? Is a physical fitness class required? A little at school, none is required at University, but a huge potential to involve yourself if you wanted to.What do you do as an adult to keep yourself physically fit? Qi Gong and cycling, with fibro exercise is mandatory to avoid grinding to a complete halt.Any interesting injuries from playing your sport or activity? I managed to pull, tear or damage numerous muscles and joint. I also managed to break bones in my foot, ankle, ribs and back, but for some reason that never seemed to put me off.

Any interesting injuries from playing your sport or activity? 1. Good grief no. I have zero coordination, though I did take ballet for some time. It didn't work.
2. Nope. Borrrrrring. I do occasionally watch ice skating or gymnastics if it's Olympic season and I happen to catch it, and pay nominal attention to the local football scores because it's practically a religion here.
3. One is required to take a single physical fitness class in high school and again at university. High school and university level sports are a mania and obsession many people do not understand, with those subjects receiving a disproportionate amount of funding, to the detriment of others. Athletes are practically gods and the preferential treatment makes me seethe.
4. *laughs*
5. Oh yeah, but not anything I'm willing to discuss.

I played American football and was on the wrestling team in junior high school, today I spectate both. I follow Bournemouth, Leiceter City, Brighton and Hove Albion, Cardiff City and the relegated Huddersfield Town in the Barclays Premier League, the Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays. The Lightning and Blackhawks are hockey teams of the NHL, the Cubs and Rays are baseball teams, Cubs in the National league, the Rays in the American league. In elementary, junior/senior high school I was required to take phys ed classes, and an injury kept me out of those classes in the 10th grade (sophomore year) in high school.
I walk or lift weighty stuff at work....other than that, not so much, although my doctors want me to be more physically active.
Separated my shoulder playing football in junior high...pulled an occasional muscle during 'adult' activities.....*wink*
