From the Sunday Times Rich List. 138= ENYA Music €119m (£105m) ▲€1m Enya’s biggest hit, Orinoco Flow, topped the charts in 1988 and inspired scientists to name a newly discovered fish, Leporinus enyae, after the song. Born Eithne Ni Bhraonain, the 57-year-old began her musical career in 1980 as a keyboard player and vocalist with her siblings in Clannad. She left the Celtic band in 1982 to go solo, enlisting the help of Dublin-born manager/producer Nicky Ryan, 72. His wife, fellow Dubliner Roma Ryan, 65, was recruited as her lyricist.
It proved to be a lucrative arrangement, with all three taking a one-third share of profits. Enya has sold more than 80m albums. Dark Sky Island, her eigth album, was released in 2015. From Gweedore, Co Donegal, she now lives in Manderley Castle in Killiney, south Dublin. A near neighbour is Bono, the lead singer of U2 (qv), of whom she joked once that “he comes around for sugar”. 2018: €118m, 127

Other sources , not the Times Rich List mentioned that Nicky is around 12 years older than Enya and Roma is about 9 years older. Nicky's birth year has been cited as 1949. If Roma is around 9 years older than Enya she is the same age as Moya Brennan, meaning that she was born in 1952.

This list is still a bit off centre. Enya is not 56, she is 57 going on 58 as of 2019. She has reportedly sold 80 million records and counting not 75 million.

And they list her as a British musician when we all know she is Irish. I would be careful calling anyone born and raised in Ireland as British. While they may not get angry about this (Americans often make this mistake) I have no doubt they would point out the error.

I would also be careful about saying anyone born on the island of Ireland as not British too. The paper which called her British is a paper from the Republic, not the UK. The Sunday Times Rich list defines it as being the based on the UK and Ireland. It is a a highly complex issue with millenia of history and still leads to violence and deaths even today. Be very circumspect.

The full Sunday Times Rich List was published today. She remains the second most financially succesful female musical artist in the Uk and Ireland ( Britrish Archipeligo). Adele was in 1st place, and Little Mix the next female artist. Overal she's tied in 28th place with Nick Mason, Pink Floyds Keyboard player, and Ropbert Plant of Led Zepplin. Now that would be a show I'd go to. .

So to put those numbers into US dollars and Euros, 105 million British pounds would by 136 million US dollars or 121 million Euros

Please forgive me for leaving out the Canadian dollar. For our Australian friends, that is 195 million Australian dollars. Regardless of the currency, she is quite comfy and it is well deserved.
