Travel Afar
What is the farthest you've traveled?
If time, money, and physical limitations were no issue, where all would you like to go?
What things do you enjoy seeing or doing while on travel?
What forms of transportation have you used?
Of the places you've visited, what is a "must see" that you'd recommend? Was anything a waste of time?

I have made only a handful of trips abroad, in 2007 I and my parents spent a fabulous summer holiday week in Slovenia (mainly staying in Portoroz but also visited Ljubljana, Bled and made a catamaran trip to Venice), and in 2012 I, my sister and my parents spent a week in Croatia (Dubrovnik, made also a day trip to Budva & Kotor areas in Montenegro).
I have always wanted to avoid all sorts of tourist "magnets", in fact in 2007 I was a bit reluctant to do the Venice trip because of the tourist rush there is always a nuisance, but decided to go along with my parents as it was only a short day trip. Also, I'm not a "beach lion" as they say, I want to walk out and about, visit museums and/or other interesting places, learn about local culture, maybe buy some local products (which can often be hard to find because some souvenirs are still made in China!) and/or handicrafts and/or music CDs for myself. I can't swim anyways (because of my disability) and I don't own bikinis, so the suntan shall happen while being out and about (usually it's mainly sunburn though, not ptoper suntan), I don't need beaches nor pools for that!
As both our Slovenian/Italian and Croatian/Montenegrin trips were booked through Finnish travel agencies, we have had a Finnish guide taking care of us throughout the holidays, but during the day trips to Venice and Bled, our guides were multilingual (using English, German and Italian), so I had to be on all ears all the time and translating things back and forth to my parents (only Mum and my sister can speak English in addition to myself). In Slovenia we used only our travel agency's pre-booked buses (to Bled/Ljubljana and back), while in Croatia we once took a taxi to the Old Town (in order to take the cable car up to Mount Srd) and then we took a local bus back to our hotel. Public transportation works very well in Dubrovnik and it's cheap!
Both Slovenia and Croatia (and the "sidekick" Montenegro) were chosen simply because back then they were not yet tourist magnets, though these days the filming of Game Of Thrones has made Dubrovnik more of a tourist magnet (but it can be avoided e.g. through timing your holiday right, i.e. going there before July & August). The landscapes in Balkan area alone make those countries worth for visiting, for example the Bay of Kotor (Montenegro) and the Bled area in Slovenia are just magical! As I mentioned earlier, Venice is something I won't return to any more (smelly especially in hot weather, very pricey, nothing special to be seen), but I would love to return to Croatia one day at least, in order to visit e.g. Split area.

Furthest, possibly Japan(from Uk), remotest Antartic penninsula, though a 3 hour solo walk into Skeleton Coast was pretty remote too.
Mars.
Climbing, Watching Flora and Fauna.
Cars, Motorbike, planes, trains. Canoe, raft, inflatable, row boat sail boat, barge, pedloe. Ski, crampon, snowshoe, Helicopter and ambulance.
Antartica I'd recommend everyone to go to, a real non-human enviroment. waste of time Tunisia.

What is the farthest you've traveled?
Antarctica, with Australia and New Zealand next in terms of how long it took to get there. I think Istanbul was also a long long journey.
If time, money, and physical limitations were no issue, where all would you like to go?
Back to Antarctica!
What things do you enjoy seeing or doing while on travel?
Seeing: everything!
Doing :Taking about 4000 photographs (not kidding, that's our normal average for a 3-week trip).
What forms of transportation have you used?
Planes, trains, buses, autos, ocean ships and river boats, zodiacs, plus feet!
Of the places you've visited, what is a "must see" that you'd recommend? Was anything a waste of time?
Antarctica, Australia, New Zealand, The Galapagos, Greece, Italy, Egypt, the Arctic, esp. Norway, Iceland, etc. So many!
Nothing was a waste of time.
Next trip: Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro, coming in October 2019.

What is the farthest you've traveled? To London, which is about 4700 miles from here, 11 hours in the air, and thousands of dollars. We've been to most of the USA, Alberta Province in Canada, England and Wales, and Ireland.
If time, money, and physical limitations were no issue, where all would you like to go? I've been to 42 of the 50 states, so I'd like to see the last few--Kentucky, Alaska, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, N. Dakota, Michigan, and Minnesota. All of Canada. All of Europe. I wish I had the time and money to spend months in Ireland and England. France and Germany are on the big list, too.
We don't get to travel much--distance is a big issue here in the States, which drives the cost to become unaffordable for most of the time. Job and family responsibilities have also prevented us from being able to travel often.
What things do you enjoy seeing or doing while on travel? Museums, natural scenic area like parks and wildlife areas, mountains, towns and villages more than cities. Art galleries. Grocery stores (they fascinate me for some reason). Bookstores. Hiking, sailing. We aren't party-people, so clubbing is out--boring and noisy.
What forms of transportation have you used? Car, airplane, sailboat, ferry, horseback, feet, taxi, train, bus and coach, subway, carriage, tram. Skis and canoes for personal, not travel.
Of the places you've visited, what is a "must see" that you'd recommend? Was anything a waste of time? There is a corridor along the Rocky Mountains that starts in New Mexico and goes through Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana that is the most stunningly beautiful area on Earth, as far as I'm concerned.
Nothing has been a waste of time, but there are a lot of places I'll never bother to return.

I have a special place in my heart for CO, which we've visited 3 times over the past few years.

Familarity breeds contempt. London,an hour on the train and I only go if I have to.
