Originally titled "Wild Child - 'every winter evening' sounds different:" and "Musical surprises within the mix"
I have a pair of interesting 'broken' headphones The headphones work, but the connection becomes loose somehow which makes some parts of the music louder than others (often lead vocals and some instruments seem quieter and the background vocals are amplified). It doesn't affect most of Enya's music significantly because of the strong layering of vocals and 'wall of sound' techniques. I've had the headphones for just over 2 years, but I was surprised by part of Wild Child that I listened to with the headphones just today! In the recorded clip of Wild Child below (hopefully the link works) it is just the lyrics "๐ธ๐ฃ๐๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ข๐, ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฆ ๐ค๐๐๐ก๐๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฆ ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐, ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ก๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฃ๐๐๐" but you can hear Enya sing a nice trill/run/riff on the word 'evening'. (A similar example that Enya sings is in Anywhere Is -'I go there, I lose my way'.) (I tried to see if it could be heard on the 'vocal up' version of Wild Child with my headphones but it didn't work.) It reminds me of what I might hear from South Asian classic female voices, and although I don't exactly sing with such a voice, it can be rather nice to hear that style ๐ค I was even more drawn to those lyrics after hearing that nice little trill! Thanks Enya, Nicky and Roma for hiding that little surprise in the song Wild Child 'every winter evening' notes ๐ถโ๏ธ

These are not as surprising but I found these parts of Caribbean Blue and Echoes in Rain interesting to hear: Caribbean Blue wind god names middle of song.m4a (602.26 KB) I think it is something to do with reverb that isn't present when I listen through the 'broken' headphones - the vocal seems clearer but also delayed here. Piano Echoes in Rain.m4a (700.62 KB) When I search for others' piano instrumental covers of Echoes in Rain, they seem to leave out or struggle with the piano solo in the song. I also made sheet music online just for that piano bridge here. Enya must still be very good at playing the piano, and I quite like how it isn't over-expressive at the same time, subtle but skilled. Looking forward to listening to more in a new album!

My main earphones are damaged now, so the 'broken headphones' are the best sound quality now Listening to 'Power Of Three' by Brรญdรญn Brennan and it is even more fascinating with these ๐ก๐ง The higher harmony is less apparent and I hear the lower melody and guitar better ๐ถ
