Sone of Enya's music opens in an interesting way, such as with thunder or heavy rain sounds in some earlier pieces, an intriguing keyboard/synthesiser part, or even the vocals straight away. What are some of the favourites you have? ๐ผ๐ถ I think two of my favourite Enya song openings are from Triad: St. Patrick and also Storms in Africa (1) - one with Enya's harmonising vocals and the other with a brilliant synthesiser introduction ๐คฉ๐ค๐น๐ถ

One of my favourite intros is the one for Pax Deorum, as meditative as the song itself!

Also Caribbean Blue has another rather impressive synth intro, and the song becomes even more wonderful after it ๐คฉ๐ Most of the later Enya pieces begin more 'smoothly'; those from Dark Sky Island that stand out near the beginning are probably The Humming, Astra Et Luna (the nice little vocal bit) and Echoes In Rain, the energy it brings ๐ถ

The piano intro for Book of Days sets the stage for this treasure. The storm effects in Storms in Africe, definitely. (The notes in Storms aren't particularly African, but you're talked into it when she delivers the track.) Loxian Gates is the most provocative, even though it just sort of rolls in with a fade up. Like a Scottish march it supports her tonal changes back and forth from stanza to refrain) A wonderful treat of her lilting ability.

I do love the soothing rain sounds at the beginning of Evacuee, and the horns - which are unique among Enya songs as I believe it's the only time she's used actual horns in an intro

I'll do one per album
The Celts - Sun In The Stream. Loved the piano Watermark - Watermark. Doesn't need a reply SM - Opening of Evacuee and Marble Halls TMOT - Anywhere Is ADWR - Isobella. Unique synthetic cello, same like Sandman Am - Less Than A Pearl, the opening itself sounds refreshing AWC - White Is In The Winter Night DSI - Dark Sky Island, Back to the wonderful piano

Although it wouldn't be my favourite, one of the most interesting slow openings to me is the B-side piece for Watermark, Morning Glory. The odd thing is that I can't tell if it is hinting to use of lysergic acid amide (compound in the seeds) or just named after the flower, haha. ๐บ๐น The piano is rather different to most other Enya pieces, more disorientated-sounding in a way. Later on in the song, I hear motifs that were later used in Amarantine, Journey Of The Angels and Wild Child. Quite fascinating ๐ก๐ผ๐ถ

Here is my list...
Book of Days (Gaelic Version): The soft bell followed by the beats is just so cool.
Book of Days (Far and Away album version): I like how they added Enya's vocal harmony to make it sounds darker.
The Longships: I love the build up.
Caribbean Blue: Pure bliss.
March of the Celts: So mysterious, and with the distorted vocal effects it feels like inside time machine
Anywhere Is: Similar feeling as March of the Celts.
Trains and Winter Rains: Like the storm is going to come.
