I guess this poll became a yearly tradition here, haha! In my opinion, there is a chance that this year the Trio will release an album, though Iโm not sure, since if they only started working on it in 2021, then it may take some more time to finish it. What do you think?

At this point, I really don't expect any more new music from them. We will get new music. Enyaโs life is music. There is no way she hasnโt been recording anything in 7 years.

I think Nicky sounded keen on the 2021 Shepherd Moons watch party. It takes them around 18 months to produce an album when they get down to it. However they have to hand over the album to Warners by May for a November release. So I think a small chance this year, better next.

That's a separate question: if they do put out more music, would they be thinking of doing another good old fashioned physical release on a major label (presumably Warner)? Holy cow, six months to prepare a finished album for release? I would think it would be a physical release, with the whole thing undermined by streaming.
Somewhere on of the Trio said that they had to hand over the master recording in May for a November release. Not too suprised by that, whole lot of things to do to set up a worldwide release.

At this point, I really don't expect any more new music from them. Nor do I, but if a release DOES appear I would be very very happy. (As for touring/live concerts, no, I just cannot imagine it happening.)

... However they have to hand over the album to Warners by May for a November release... I didn't have any luck finding that reference. However, this statement appears in the November 22, 2015 Buzzfeed interview: "Itโs the first time back to the studio in months โ enough time for the Steinway to go woefully out of tune." Article linkOTOH, in a Yahoo.com interview posted on October 24, 2015, she said "...because the album is just finished now." So, did they finish DSI long before it was released, or only a short time before it was released?! Article linkI found a couple other times when she said or implied the album was finished just before promotion started, and only a few weeks before it was released... Amarantine: "On October 14, Enya gave an exclusive interview in Killruddery House, Dublin, and answered questions submitted by her Spanish fans... 'At the moment, Iโve just finished the album, just on Wednesdayโฆ Yes, this Wednesday night.'" [That would have been October 12] -- Terra Music, October 28, 2005 Article linkAWC: "We only just finished the record, so I'm really excited about it. ...I'm only really hearing things in their final running order for the first time." --Hot Press magazine, October 9, 2008 Article link perhaps when she's interviewed, she includes the time Warner needed as well as having "finished" the album.

Running order is usually crystalised as part of the mastering process. This isn't done by the Trio or even Aigle. Running order can be dictated by the production process, particularly vinyl. I think 'finished' means diferent things at different times.

But there seem to be significant signs that things are winding down. With regard to live performance, I also feel that ship has sailed (no pun intended!), as I made clear here: Thread linkWhat are the signs of the trio winding down? Aside from the obvious fact that it's been over seven years since any music came out (and just over six years since the last performance of any type)... They shut down the Unity forum, later shut down the entire web site, and ultimately gave up the Enya.com domain altogether. Other websites they owned/ran have been shut down or abandoned. In some cases, they also gave up the domains. Examples include NickyRyan.net, RomaRyan.com, and the numerous Loxian-related sites/domains. Aigle Music Ltd. hasn't filed an Annual Report or Account Details for three years. We've barely seen or heard a peep from any of them since the Grammys in 2017, though they have social media channels and it wouldn't take one minute to put out an update. The only exception are those written messages slotted into the watch party videos. But those messages didn't give us much idea what they were doing for the previous several years, what they were currently up to, or what their plans were. Nicky's ambiguous update in November 2021 (SM watch party) suggested they might start making some music...did they?

Nicky's ambiguous update in November 2021 (SM watch party) suggested they might start making some music...did they? After lurking for a while, I had to register and add to this post because it sums up how things are in the same way I see it. It's been seven years with no new music. Last time it was seven years as well because they took 3 years off. So, we asume 7 years as the new "gap" and add 2 more years because covid, and we are in 2024. They also said in November of 21 that they might start making music. Assuming 3 years to record, and we are in the end of 2024. If by the end of 24 there's still nothing then it's goodbye. We also have to consider Nicky's age. If there's a new album it's going to be the last one. In terms of losing all of the internet presence, I wonder why they decided to do so and in such an abrupt way. They should at least have kept the enya.com domain, so it doesn't land in bad hands. I wrote a DM on her facebook profile telling them to remove the enya.com from the profile since it's not their property anymore. I got an automated reply but nothing more. It seems the profile it's just semi-deserted and only used on selected occasions to try and pump the numbers on the streaming platforms. Talking about internet presence, we can meditate about how wrongly they have been doing it. We no longer live in 1995 when my father was listening, people now is not happy being left with nothing for 7 years, they move on. We understand they want their privacy, I personally do as well, but there's a big difference between leaving people with nothing for years and giving small updates from time to time, and thats the difference between being ungrateful and private. I don't think its that hard for the trio to do a short Christmas video every year giving a small update. Maybe they have nothing to say. I think the closing of the webpage and the lack of account reports at Aigle are linked as they are not too distant in time? It seems they decided to do this to be less traceable. About Aigle and the lack of newer reports. It's done to hide the flow of money. In the past there's been articles on the press about Aigle's yearly profits and how they compared to years prior. For sure there's money still going in from all the royalties and spotify etc. and for sure they are on date with the tax autorities. They are just not publishing the anual results in the public registry. In my country failing to publish said anual results its not recomended because credit institutions and banks will not lend you money and other companies will refuse to sell you merchandise or their labour. By closing the access to Aigle's information they are not letting you follow the trace of money (ie. the studio equipment they bought) and the flow of work, so you basically don't know if they are recording or just collecting the money from the royalties.

After lurking for a while, I had to register and add to this post because it sums up how things are in the same way I see it. It's been seven years with no new music. Last time it was seven years as well because they took 3 years off... Welcome aboard! I singled out the above to comment on because it's a pet peeve of mine, lol. In May 2011 we were told that they were working on an album. Roma was quoted by Nigel, the moderator of Unity which was the official online forum. (Screenshot below, click to see larger): 2011_05_18_RomaSaysInStudio by Candace66, on Flickr The story was also picked up at the time by an Italian-language blog: Blog linkAt about the same time, a few articles appeared. The headlines were about Enya's upcoming 50th birthday, but this article included information about the new album they were working on at the time: "Now, the trio are in the early stages of working on an eighth, as-yet-untitled, album. 'Work is going well,' Nicky says... Nicky has ambitious plans for this album -- including work with an orchestra and full choir in the fabled Abbey Road studios." Article linkFinally, though I have no link or screenshot as evidence, I recall that fans dug up at least one social media post from a musician who said they had worked with Enya at Abbey Road. Obviously, May 2011 is more than three years before 2015. And of course none of the songs on DSI were recorded at Abbey Road. BTW, the next update about recording was in December 2012, which may have been truthful since that's within three years of DSI. The 2012 update was again reported by the blog, and it's the only source I have now: Blog linkNo mention of Abbey Road by that point, though. So, were the recordings from the Abbey Road sessions unsatisfactory, and thus the project was abandoned? Then instead they started a new studio album--which would become DSI--working in their usual fashion? One can only wonder...

Interesting seeing how the votes changed a bit since, more seeing a small chance (I voted a big chance ๐๐) *but now considering it for 2024. I have an inkling/hunch/impression that 2023 could become a big 'Enya comeback year', like Kate Bush last year, but with actual appearances and new music. ๐ผ๐ถโจ๏ธ () Enyacore is already becoming was a thing, for a bit and should continue over the next few months at least. That may be a source of encouragement for Enya to share something new this year, if not the next. ๐ค๐ก

Unless it is something that affects their business / reputation ( I refer to the Sumiregusa mishap ) not one single iota of an outside source/event/influence will bring Enya to release anything. It;s always been THEIR decision when and if they will divulge anything. I can only assume that this is how it will go with any new music to come.

I can agree that for the trio it is ultimately their own decision (especially as there isn't the 3-year contract now) - I only have a vague idea of the Sumiregusa situation, what was that about? Rather than it making them change their mind about when to release things, I meant that the recognition might somehow 'cheer them on' as they work on some new music.
