Hooray, there's a definite chance for this year to be it with those mini hints from 2023! I've added a few more options to be more specific, as in when (which months) you'd guess for it to be out. Feel free to change it as time passes ๐
Of course, it has been in November for the majority of Enya's album releases (except that The Celts was in March 1987, and Watermark September 1988). Also as 2023 comes to a close, wishing everyone well in 2024! ๐๐

Anyone who followed the announcements and updates before the release of Dark Sky Island in 2015, were there any announcements or big hints earlier on in the year regarding a new album?

Anyone who followed the announcements and updates before the release of Dark Sky Island in 2015, were there any announcements or big hints earlier on in the year regarding a new album? As I recall, no there were not. We were pretty much in the dark then, as we are now! I think DSI was first hinted at on the website (enya.com), with a short sound clip of "The Humming." That was probably in September. (Or maybe we already knew by August -- something about photos taken in Berlin(?) with the Enya logo projected onto the side of a building springs to mind. Posted by fans to social media. But my memory is fuzzy on that.)
I actually sort of prefer Enya's new albums to be surprises -- it's more fun that way!

(This seems to confirm that, just re-discovered it:) enya.sk/music/dark-sky-island/?fbclid=IwAR35q-gOj9xwXjgzsni2ijQzULcTVnghxahBWIl6k-vnvenpEwjMjuwKERII also like a bit of the mystery surrounding them ๐๐ฎ it's preferable to being bombarded with info and promotions too early, anyway. (Speculating about the new album is something else... that's rather fun too! ) Though I'd be surprised if there isn't one this year. Someone should get the chance to tell Enya "it's been Eithne Nรญ Bhrao nรกin years!"

Berlin <==> Dublin....Well, I was half right (literally)! That does make more sense geographically, doesn't it. I too went looking on enya.sk after my post to see how good my memory is (or isn't), but I couldn't find the part about the "August" (= Sept) event. If only the Unity forum were still around (ahem), I could've looked it up there! Ah yes, here is the photo I was thinking of: WAS ENYA AT KINGS INNS TODAY [17 SEPT 2015] REF--10805289 by William Murphy, on Flickr

I would probably describe my views on a new Enya album this year as mildly hopefull. With the various Release parties on Youtube and Box Of Dreams there have been strong hints from Nicky and Eithne that an new album was being worked on. However there have been a lot of things hinted at in the past that in the end haven't materialised. Of note many of the album videos on Youtube were updated 3 days ago, so some small signs of life. However FBN and other social media accounts have been dead since september's anniversary of Watermark. I would think signs of a new album would be an uptick in social media. I had high hopes that something was on its way in 2020 as that year the FB account was very active, but all we got was the Day Without Rain Watch Party.

Of course, still keeping hope for this November! ๐ผ๐คฉ๐ถ As for re-recordings, I can imagine a handful happening at some point after the next album (Orinoco Flow, and The Frog Prince tracks if not a limited release of the originals). ๐๐ช Colour scheme-wise, I envisage either orange or purple (and a small chance of green, light blue, or even gold). ๐จ

Yes, on the Enya discography wiki page, that was me teasing a release date Apologies for misleading, though I did say 'estimated' haha It'd better be this November though! ๐ผ๐ค If I'd got the date right too (29th November 2024) that would be quite mind-blowing ๐คฏ

I still hope, but basically I have given up. Too much time since I last heard from Enya. The only place I look for news these days is here, the Marble Halls.

I really do hope so, but 2025 might be fine too โ if a decade away can be explained Another thought was that there could've been a 'lockdown album' but the trio would rather not, as it would be a bit 'forgotten' and people would associate it with the pandemic period too much. Only Time was a 9/11 song, but its meaning is adaptable, and the song is used in all sorts of contexts, and is just as 'loved'. ๐ฅฐ If the album was 2020, 2021, it'd probably not reflect the gap after DSI properly, and then there'd be some expectation of another album, and not getting one after the pandemic would be underwhelming, and the lockdown onw being dismissed. Kind of like with And Winter Came, and how not everyone considers it a proper Enya studio album, though it did evolve into a winter-themed one from the Christmas idea. ๐ก I guess 2018-19 was when the trio first started working on the new album, then (as I quoted elsewhere) "around 2 years 'lost' to the pandemic, another few months for renovation, resuming late 2021, 2022, 2023, and it might be almost done, assuming we *will* hear her this year, 2024."๐ค๐ฎ๐ถ ๐ค
