From reviews at Unity, the track has been very well received - a good omen for the album as a whole.
There has been some debate there about the lyrics - do we know now what exactly they are?

I won't buy it from iTunes (I hate the software, I hate the digital rights management), but if anyone here does buy it, I'd like to get a comparison between the download and the radio broadcast.
If the download shows up on AmazonUS, I'll buy it, btw. Amazon is a lot less prickly than itunes.

to be honest, in most songs I have a hard time understanding what Enya is saying, I usually catch a word or two here, but in most parts of her music I am just making up words that I feel and then I catch a phrase like Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away"...
I listened last night with some recording headphones and the quality was much better versus the computer speakers...I am sure that some of this is the internet...

I know it's hard to say with a radio broadcast, but can you tell if there is real drum percussion in the song, or have they used very heavy strings as percussion? Also, do you hear a tambourine in the song? I think I hear one as an echo when there's a sound like clapping or rhythm sticks. I believe this is in the chorus, but I'm not sure.
Also, did someone at Unity comment that they thought the Angus Die chorus was a sample from a chorale sampler cd? (I guess the chorale version of drum samples).. Anyone think the chorale part is Enya doing all the vocals, or do you think they may have used sound samples for that?

Mark, I agree with you. I've always had a hard time understanding many of her songs, and there are lyrics I do not know to this day. I have been assuming it's the layering effect that slightly blurs the words. This difficulty is especially true where the background vocals or background music is loud.

Now that I have the iTunes version, yes, it seems to be real percussion in a few places. Also, yes, it sounds to me like a tambourine is used as well. I seem to catch new things each time I listen. I am amazed by the way the background vocals are utilized. I don't believe the chorale parts are sampled at all. Not sure where that idea came from. It's really, to me, an impressive song. John

I also am still having problems making out all the lyrics - in fact, choral music in general has this effect on me: the more voices, the less clear the main lyric. And yes, I think a lot of the percussion effects are "real" I think. And I do like the percussion sticks.

Thanks for the mini-review, John. I hope Amazon will offer it as a download soon. Just the plain radio version I scarfed from Terry's show shows a lot of promise. It's very energetic, and I love the way the rhythm is syncopated to have that train in motion sound. I hear things going on in the background on the vocals, but the radio copy isn't good enough for me to tell what's going on.
I think there's a place toward the end where Enya combines her voice and strings to create the sound of a train "whine" as it speeds down a track. The tambourine adds a 'metallic' sound that fits the idea of a train.
But.. where's this train business coming from? Is she living too close to the Killiney DART station or what? Can she peer down the hillside and see the DART train rolling in and leaving again? First there was Christmas Secrets, and now T&WR--Enya is doing a LOT of train songs! LOL!

I wonder if the price of petrol is so high there that she's riding the DART to the studio and parking the Maybach?

Or maybe she just doesn't LIKE sitting in line for 45 minutes to get to the pump? ooooh.. vision of Enya.. in the Mayback, fingers drumming on steering wheel, humming to herself.... 'sail laway sail laway sail laway!' Him o hiiiiigggghhhh, shalus sheer!! ingooodche en ... alas greeeeeeiiiiannnn... fol dol da door fol da dayyyyyyyyyy fol duh dooorrrrr fol da daaaayyyyyyy....' ... I am going to be interested in seeing if they changed where they master the music...I think there is something better about the quality of the overall sound of TAWR versus Amarantine...I could be wrong...

I'm wondering about the video, which I expect will be released for this single - what I am hoping for is a video with a narrative element, preferably with other "characters" involved, as in Caribbean Blue. I want to see Enya interact with other people this time.

Funny you mention that. It could just be the quality of the iTunes (which still isn't CD quality) but I felt that the background sounds didn't seem as crisp. I thought even the tambourine sounded a bit muffled compared to say, some of the crisper sounds on Amarantine album. But then again, the background vocals and such seem very clear. Maybe it's just me - my ears like the crisp, clean high pitch noises. I'm wondering about the video, which I expect will be released for this single - what I am hoping for is a video with a narrative element, preferably with other "characters" involved, as in Caribbean Blue. I want to see Enya interact with other people this time. The video for this song has so much potential. It could go so many ways. You mention Eithne interacting with other people - someone suggested that to me on MSN the other day. They seem to think this could happen. There is no way of knowing, but I agree, I think it would be great to see. I know it's a little late for this particular video, but one band, Explosions in the Sky, did a video contest where the fans got to submit their homemade videos. Some of the video's which were submitted were absolutely amazing. Of course the downside to this idea for an Enya video is that she wouldn't be in the video as live. Still, it would be nice to see what the fans would submit. Sorry for going slightly off topic.
