Great to hear that Clannad will still keep performing live despite the passing of one of the Duggans, I was also very lucky to be able to see the group live here in Finland, first in 2008 and again in 2012 with the original lineup (Pol included). Their live double album Turas 1980 is very much worth for getting!

This is their official website: www.clannad.ie/They have just completed a tour in Germany: "The return to Germany will be a reminder of their early years. Back in 1980, Radio Bremen recorded a concert in the city's university. The recently rediscovered tapes of that recording have been released as Turas 1980, a double album which displays the craft and musicality of a band confident of their Irish heritage but on the verge of breaking into a new sound experience. The collection of songs showcase the musical talents of the family band and the vocal harmonies which went on to bring them such fame. This the 1st tour for the band since the sad death of founding member, Padraig Duggan, in 2016."

50 years, dang. They've had a good run. I suppose it will be the usual "North America" tour, being far east coast, far west coast USA, maybe a stop in Canada, and nothing in the center of the continent. I'd go see them, actually, if they were within 500 miles.

It also had me wondering if this was the "something special" someone is alleged to have mentioned in Leo's Tavern ?

I'd love to visit London or Dublin again, though. It's not so much the 11 hours in the air, as it is the thousands of USD. *sigh*

It is pricey for a return trip. Still if any one of us has the funds in hand and personal circumstances allow it, I think most of us serious fans will book a flight to have our favourite artistes autograph our album copies. While at it might as well enjoy the surroundings and return with some extra souvenirs.

Take my advice, don't forget the T-shirts etc. either, it's going to be hard times for anyone's wallet but it's really worth it (myself bought no less than four T-shirts, the photo book, Rubicon CD and a pre-signed poster back in 2012)!

The St Pats gig is in London in 2020. I was more suggesting it as a highlight to a special holiday, rather than just the concert alone. I'm not really a Merch fan so that'll be cheap. Mind you if Herself finally tours and does some Jennie Rothwell ties or waistcoats my card would take quite a hit. There's talk of European and World legs later in the year, if that hadn't been mentioned.

I had a hunch there might be a farewell tour coming, seeing both Leo and one of the Duggans' passing. It just feels like a good moment too, don't y'all think? LIke, it has been a great run and now the circle is closed sort of. It's not that we won't be seeing any of them after this, Moya still tours and records albums, and the others afaik have their own projects or prefer to live quiet lives.
Pity they aren't coming anywhere closer than Haarlem for me... not sure if I'll go. Rotterdam would have been a dream. I count myself lucky to have seen them in full swing attached to a special Moya concert in De Doelen in Rotterdam, an evening that even Leo & Baba attended. <3 *happy memories*

We see the Eithne/split being mentioned in 1982. Here is a Clannad image from 5th December 1981, without Eithne, anyone with any intresting comments.
