Absolutely agree: it was such a different sound, and it was so cool the way the lyrics got in all the names, allusions -- kind of reminded me of what Roma did in OF some 20 years ago. Clever, musically delightful and a fitting tribute overall

No! No! Not the bore worms!!!
The one thing I Love about this song, is when she's singing it her voice sounds so smooth and "perfect." She sounds happy and that shines through as well. One might have thought she couldn't have pulled off a song like this, but she did. She sang it so well, which totally made the song for me. This entire album was just sang in such a way that was fresh and new to me.

This song is really different but I really like it. It's so upbeat and stays in my head.

So not a winter-Christmas song! But I like it! The beat is unexpected, the lyrics are fun to "deconstruct," the time span--Newton to now--is great, the tributes to pioneers are wonderful. Great bouncy rhythm--stays in my head.
That enigmatic last line...hmmm. Could be we step out again...could be tomorrow but then...could be 2010. I wonder if that's a reference to the Trio stepping out into another new venture? Maybe now, maybe by 2010? Who knows?

The first thing I thought when I heard it was "Beatles" influence.... and then I heard the "Abbey Road" lyric! This is fast becoming my unexpected favourite. There's also something a bit "Badly Drawn Boy" about the sound... can't think what the song's called now though...

I don't know if anyone has already touched on this or not, but line: "My! My! Time Flies! A rap on a rhapsody, a king who's still in the news, a king to sing you the blues." Think she is referring to BB King? Elivs? Thoughts? I suppose I should check to see if "King" is capitalized in the lyrics once they are posted on Enya.com. I'm leaning towards BB King...thoughts anyone? Is the rap on a rhapsody a reference to Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody? the king in the news sound like Elvis the king who sings the blues = BB King I think Waiting is soooo frustrating.................... I would Love if she threw out a Queen reference. Queen is one of my all time favorite bands. Everything else you said as well makes sense too...Elivs And BB King!

Well, in my case, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody is one of my favourite songs, although I don't quite like the rest of the bands.
It is insofar unique, since it is kind of an miniature opera.
I don't know this kind from other music groups - apart from musicals, of course.

Indeed...I miss that good old nostalgic brit sound that made(and still makes) my best days around music. Too many wonderful memories,I say! Ahrod B.

This song is so much fun and I just like the whole melody and the thought put into words...I like the overall creativity of the rhythm and melody...
For some reason, I thought George or John would be the ones not wearing thier shoes, but I guess that was the shock factor...who knows...The Beatles, pure greatness!
