As TreeCat mentioned above, for the collector ABOD is a must-have item, but for me it's not worth as I have all the albums and the OTTC,as well.

Personally, I had all of the tracks from it at the time, or, at least, I think I did. Still, if I had to do it over, I'd still buy the set again. I think the 3 CDs are very nice and for the collector, obviously, it's worth having. Also, as TC indicated, the booklet is pretty comprehensive. I guess it comes down to the individual person and their feelings about plunking down cash on it and feeling they are getting their money's worth.

I have wondered whether ABOD is worth getting myself. I have all the songs on it and it's always expensive. I will only get it if it's at a reasonable price.

I've got a question that is inside my head for quite some time now:
How is the sound quality compared to The Collection ?

I've got a question that is inside my head for quite some time now: How is the sound quality compared to The Collection ? If memory serves me right, I think the sound quality of the Box of Dreams was better than the original. I don't remember if it was supposed to be remastered or such, but I think I recall having read this. However, I stand corrected if anyone knows otherwise. I don't remember the OTTC sound quality differing any, but I'd have to dig out the sets and listen again to them both. John

I don't detect any discernable difference between the same songs on OT:TC and ABOD; for some I don't have the original albums though because I've got all the tracks across the compilations.
It's this old game of, "Do I want to spend Β£15 or so on what is essentially no more than the artwork?"
Very often I listen to music at work through earphones, and recently I had to purchase some new ones as my existing ones decided to pack up. The new ones are better quality, so maybe next time I'm listening to these albums ..... however, I normally convert them to MP3 format for portability and you do lose quality when you do that.

The only Enya cd I have that I can definitely say sounds better than the others is the 24bit gold Japanese issue of Watermark I have. I can't tell the difference between the tracks on ABOD and OT:TC, or the songs on those compilations compared to the single album versions.
I remember posts at Unity where people were trying to compare the sound quality on different issues of Amarantine. I think some people thought they heard differences between the US/UK issues and an issue from the Phillipines or Indonesia. However, I don't remember if they were going strictly by their ears or using some kind of sound equipment to compare the cds.

I love the Box of Dreams, so much that when I lent a copy to a friend and she never gave it back, I bought a new one. I love the artwork and design. I love that I can pop the instrumentals only CD in when I'm having difficulty falling asleep, or the "airs" only CD when I am feeling blue, or the uptempo only CD when I am feeling energetic. Great notion!

That's interesting that people heard differences between the UK/US versions of Amarantine. Were they specific? The copy I picked up here in Ireland sounded crystal clear with greay sound, but then I'm not a techy.

They said they heard differences between the US and UK versions compared to the Phillipine or Indonesian version. IIRC, the US/UK versions (in their opinion) sounded the same, but there was something different about the Phillipine or Indonesian version. Don't remember what the differences were, it seemed like a group of techies who were able to gather and play different copies and gave their opinions. I've never been able to tell the difference between any of the Amarantine copies I have, which cover several countries.

I sit back sometimes and wonder if I ought to buy these, "just to have them." The least expensive price I can find for the Box of Dreams would be over $60.00 for the product and the shipping. I'm sure it's a neat arrangement of songs...the artwork is wonderful...the insert would be cool...the box itself looks pretty. But that's a lot of money for music I already have.
Am I just being cheap?

Great notion! I had never thought of the ability to use each CD according to mood - the instrumental only one would be great for me at certain "restless" times as you say. Though one could burn a mix..... Your friend never gave it back? Is she still your friend? Riene: I don't think you're any "cheaper" than I am - I will buy it when it's being offered at a good price and I have some spare cash. Right now the purse is full of cobwebs.

Am I just being cheap? No, I think you can find it cheaper if you're willing to wait and watch. I got my copy for $21 + shipping on eBay. That piece of luck might not return, but I'm sure I've seen it go for less than $60 on eBay recently. I like the themed discs of BOD. I think BOD and OT:TC are comparable in the creative artwork of BOD and the booklet and photography of OT:TC, and in presentation boxes. But BOD is superior because it does divide the music into themes. Oceans is good driving music; the piano solos are good music to read or write by. Clouds--I like having all the eclectic songs together.

I like A Box of Dreams. It was my second Box - the first one was The Enya Collection - and the artwork is great. The sound quality really seems to be a bit better than original ones, but I think it worths just for the booklet. There are some beautiful texts (supposed to be and signed) by Roma, but just few Enya photos (3 if I'm not wrong), all different takes from past releases. But it is just over there that you can officially find "Enya" written with an "i" in oghan...

I can't remember if there's a booklet or not, or if so, how extensive is it?
