A place for stuff like this Giddy-up, morning commutersLast Updated: Monday, January 5, 2009 | 2:16 PM AT A lasso might have come in handy during Monday's commute to work. Eight horses roamed the streets of Halifax after escaping from a fenced-off area at the Bengal Lancers equestrian club in the central area of the city. It seems a gate leading to a parking lot on Bell Road wasn't latched tight enough. "Horses are a little bit smart. Apparently they opened the gate and left," said Jill Barker, Bengal Lancers manager and head instructor. All of the horses took advantage of the situation and strolled down the road β much to the bemusement of drivers and pedestrians. Most of the animals turned around at the intersection of Bell Road and Sackville Street and headed back up toward the barn across from Citadel High School. Luckily, several riders who were driving to work spotted the runaway horses, pulled over and led six of the animals back to their home. Two horses that had wandered even farther away were corralled at the entrance to the Citadel Hill fort. The whole Wild West scene lasted about an hour. All of the horses are back safely at the club and the gate has been latched twice to avoid another escape. "They're all perfectly happy," said Barker. "They went for their morning exercise." With nails that long you couldn't possibly dress yourself, feed yourself, bathe yourself. You couldn't hold down a job. How do you even sleep???
It's just gross.

I think I read that instead of fertility drugs, she'd actually had the embryos implanted...so she knew she had a great possiblilty of having a large number of babies. They had to implant at least 8 (or possibly more!). The embryos were left over from previous IVF's & she couldn't bare to see them destroyed.
And ICK on the nails!

That is unbelievable that someone could function more or less normally with finger nails that long. I find my nails get in the way when they get longer than about 3mm past the end of my fingers. Lol. I remember seeing it in the guiness book of world records back when I was in school. As for that photo - it looks like she is wearing some sort of costume. Lol, only its real.

Something weird that has been puzzling me the last couple of weeks or so. A couple of weeks ago I got bitten by something on the side of my thigh. I suspect it was probably a spider of some description - I live in Australia so it was bound to happen sooner or later. There is a series of the bites going up the side of my thigh, and I suspect the culprit was probably in my clothing. Although I was unaware I was being bitten at the time I was being bitten. I was half way through my shift at work one day and noticed my thigh was a bit itchy, but thought nothing of it, until I saw the bites when I had a shower that evening. At that point they just looked like regular itchy bites (like mozzie bites), except in the cold air after getting out of the shower they had gone a purple colour and looked more like bruises. That was almost two weeks ago, and the bites are still there, although the itching is finally subsiding now, and they have developed visible (yellowish) centres.
Anyway, the weird part is that I had the bites on both thighs, in the same location - down the outside of the thigh. The bites on one thigh are significantly worse than those on the other thigh, and there is a clear progression in their size and severity, so I think it was the same critter - he bit his way up one leg and then somehow ended up on the other leg and had a go there too, but was running out of venom by then. Its not the bites themselves that are particularly weird (although they are different from the bites I usually get), but the symmetry of it is bizarre!
