Besides Enya, what other Celtic music would you recommend to us?
If you'd like, you can start a thread on your choice.

Moya of course Incidentally I was blown away by how good Signature is. If I am honest, I thought it might be a bit 'samey' coming so soon after other Moya releases, but it is really quite something. Altan - wow, I love these guys We've seen them live a few times and they are excellent. Sinead Lohan made a couple of albums I love quite some time ago - not currently making music I think, but she made some great music. Cathie Ryan - especially the album the farthest wave. She is awsome

I like to listen to Karan Casey (amazing voice), Pauline Scanlon, and another really good Donegal band, Arcanadh.

In addition to the obvious Enya, Moya and Clannad I can wholeheartedly recommend:
The Chieftains -living legends! Have seen them live in concert here in my home city as part of the annual Irish Festival of Oulu. Altan: Another group of legends! Have also seen them live here on The Irish Festival of Oulu. Clann Mhíc Ruairi: A Donegal-based group as well, one of its members actually runs the Clubeo things at Leo's Tavern! Have seen also this group live here in Oulu. Michael Vignoles & Ray(mond) O'Donnell: A wonderful organ/uilleann pipes duo which I have also seen live in concert here in Oulu. The Friel Sisters: Scots-born, but with Irish roots! This energetic trio is a must listen! Seen them live in concert here in Oulu. Droichead: Not exactly Irish, but this group features the festival director of The Irish Festival of Oulu (an US expat married with a Finnish lady and living now in Oulu). Aoife Ní Fhearraidh: A lovely singer from Donegal! T With The Maggies: Why? Because! Davy Spillane: Self-explanatory!

The older generation will cite Ruby Murray while those who like a touring crooner who does a lot of covers will mention Daniel O'Donnell. Mary Duff is particularly good at rendering country and western hits. My Dad is fond of those mentioned.

I need to hunt that album down next time I'm at their house.

Ruby also did 'Let Me Go Lover' which was a big hit in the fifties and of course her renditions of Irish favourites.

Billboard rates them according to its long running hit charts. If you use other charts say Top of the Pops or the European Charts, then you could have a different list. There is also Westlife and Boyzone, those Irish boybands which had a huge following in Asia and Europe during their heyday in the late nineties and early noughties.
