Persoanlly, I do believe but you're right .... a alot of folk over on Moya's forum don't believe but her music is accessible both to people who do and people that don't. When you read her book, you get a very strong sense of Moya never wanting to branch out into Christian music because it had a very poor reputation at the time: it was always untrendy, poor quality, and had a "let's do it 10 years after everyone else and really badly" feel to it. But it's good to see that this has changed, and there is a lot of good Christian music out there nowadays, of which Moya's is amongst the best Her album Signature is more an album about her life story, and is an interesting fusion of Chistian and non-Christian. Personally, it's never been my favourite album but I've heard it live twice, and it did have an entirely different feel to it when performed live.

Whisper to the Wild Water is one of the albums I do not have. From the above comments, I shall listen to some songs (legally) in consideration of buying it. Angoid, I think it's curious that she does not perfom songs from this album live. Does she think the religious "bent" will not be "acceptable" to all fans? ?

I really don't know ...... but I don't think so because she does perform Perfect Time live which is overtly Christian .... it could be merely technical (the songs wouldn't work so well performed live)

I hope it's something minor, like a hoarse voice. But yes, that is worrisome news.

Has she not been on the road quite a bit of late? Maybe, it is something like just needing to rest her voice.

First I'd heard of it John ..... hope this is nothing too serious. It seems natural to worry about it, but it could also be something more boring and mundane, such as suddenly not being able to use the venue at the last minute and was unable to secure another place in time...

I got to meet Moya Brennan and the DeBarras after the concert in Philadelphia last Christmas during the east coast tour. Like others have said, I love how she takes the time to meet with everyone who stays after and signs cds, takes photos with people, and chats with them. She asked me if I could wait until after the place cleared out, so we could talk. I thought it was really nice of her to do that (as tired as she was lol). I really loved how she treated her fans like friends. Her sense of humor is great too! I don't think I ever laughed so much at one time! Those rib crushing Moya hugs were great too (I'm sure a lot of you know what I'm talking about)
She even made some time the next morning to say hello to me one last time before she had to head off to her next gig in Washington DC. (It was snowing too!)

I don't own any of her CD's, but I have spent a lot of time listening to some of her songs. She has a beautiful voice, and I really like her stage presence. I know of a few people who have met her in the past, and they all say nice things about her. On another note, I have sent a handful of MySpace friend requests to the official Moya MySpace, but I keep getting denied

Hmmmmm, weird that you keep getting turned down, OWB Smaointe, you're totally right. Moya is so real, warm, and down-to-earth when you meet her live. Admittedly, the last time I saw her live was with Clannad and I felt somehow as though she was not pleased to see me. However, I was with another member of her forum at the time and I spoke to this other member afterwards who had seen one of the other band members point to his watch at her just before I got to her, and there were a number of people still behind me. So Moya probably felt under pressure to wind things down. But every other time I saw her she's always been very warm, real, and down-to-earth.

Thank you, Angoid. I agree with you that Moya could have felt rushed, and maybe didn't get to spend as much time with fans afterwards as she would have liked. Did she have another gig she needed to get to? Maybe that's why they were short on time? She really is a warm, friendly person who opens up to fans that stay to meet her. Hearing her tell the full "Borders story" from the year before was fun too. I finally got the whole story!! ;D There were still a great number of people waiting to talk to her a long time after the concert ended. She seemed like she was ready to wind things down for the night, and I wouldn't blame her, but she kept on talking to the fans that were left. It was also really late, and seemed like she was ready to talk to me, then head back to the hotel. Smaointe

Everyone writes of her so warmly. She sounds like a genuinely nice, grounded, person.

She really is a soulful person. When I met her and she was signing her autobiography for me, I said I've read the book many times and it helps me when I'm having hard time. She took my hand, held it firmly, looked deeply into my eyes and said something that she didn't write it for fame whatsoever, because she can be on stage and perform. She did it to help people. There's no question that I felt like I was in heaven after that

I totally believe her statement that she wrote it to help people. It is clear that she believes that, no matter how low you fall, you can still get up again.
