I think Moya is touring with Clannad in Germany at the moment. Great to see the band back on the road. They will soon be celebrating their 50th birthday! OMG, 50 years! Totally amazing Not many groups last that long these days.

Totally amazing Not many groups last that long these days. Of the groups that have made it 50 years in the music biz, there's a few, imo, that have long outlived their musical lives, but those I think that should/need to be retired will remain under my hat for now...would be nice if Moya/Clannad would tour my corner of Florida...

I still find Hawkwind still rock the room after 50 years.

Totally agree, Phantas - having met Moya a few years ago (in Leo's Tavern) she comes across as a performer who really cares about her fans. She was absolutely delightful to talk to

Some years ago I visited a gig from Moya Brennan & Band in Limerick at Dolan's. To be honest I was quite disappointed. Don't get me wrong: The gig was great, she's splendid indeed and her band was great too. But: the gig was scheduled for 8 pm (entrance 7 pm). There was an opening act (her childred amongst them - very nice too), but this opening act did not start before 9 pm and once Moya entered the stage it was after half past 10 pm. Way too late for my taste. I was not in the mood of a concert anymore after this long waiting time. But maybe this is the reason why I don't go to gigs that often anymore. Obviously this beeing late from the artists on there gigs is very common these days ...

If a concert is scheduled for 8 pm, it needs to begin by 8 pm. Most first acts (prior to main performers) run maybe 30 minutes and then there's often a break, so the main act is onstage by 9 at the latest. Ten pm is too late for me as well.

The Celtic and germanic races live in very different temporal universes. For an Irish folk band on home soil that schedule sounds remarkably tight and punctual.

An non-pc English Joke. A spaniard tried to explain to an Irish man the Spanish concept of "manana". The Irish man looked perplexed and explained that the Irish don't have the same sense of urgency. Quick, pass me Thunder's crash helmet!
