Yep, am assuming that nothing is going to happen in terms of a release until we either see it on an official site such as Amazon, or when Aigle tells us.
I was surprised, though, when the rumors started circulating. It seems awfully early for another Aigle release, coming as if would on the heels of the last couple.
I'm not crazy about "best of" collections to begin with. The ONLY reason I'd buy this one would be if it had a new song.

I'm a little surprised it's coming so soon after AWC. Looking at the timeline from TMOT to PTSWS: TMOT was released at the end of 1995. Enya promoted it through Spring 1996. Then went to work on PTSWS, in late 96 or early 97, and released it in the Fall of 1997. So, two years between the those two albums, and only one year between AWC and this new best of compilation. Yes, the main reason to get excited is if there are a couple of new songs on it, and if they release the radio edit of SSG and, maybe, Miraculum. I think they have to put some original songs on it to draw people who already have all the albums. My fingers are crossed anyway.

I wonder...how does this information get leaked? If they were not going to do an album for a while now, wouldn't there have to be a leak at Warner? I just wish someone would step up to the plate and say either "Yes, we are working on a greatest hits album, but we currently have no release date." Or "no this information is false, we are working on no such thing."

It seems that information being released before any "official" word is par for the proverbial course. Thus, if one was a betting individual, I'd say it would be safe to wager that this is coming. Still, some "official" announcement would really be helpful. If this proves to be misinformation, of course, Aigle will still get the blame from some "fans" regardless.
Personally, besides believing these "rumors" will end up being true, I am really curious as to What will come. However, I am not going to throw my own speculation out there, as there seems to already be the usual "hitch your wagon to the stars" principle in effect as the days pass. In other words, you see a lot of "wish list" or "they should do this" going on, which, sadly, leads to grumbling and some bit of disappointment when the "collection" does not turn out how one has let oneself imagine it will be. So, I['m playing it safe and, more or less, am going to wait and see if I'm "right" without caring if I am or not.

I wonder if other artists pending releases have a dark side...one such as Enya's? Me, I don't care. Not to say I'm not excited...I am. But knowing Enya, the GH album structure could go so many directions. I know what I would love to see, but I don't get wrapped up in getting over excited about something I have no control over. I think sometimes, people feel Their idea's for the Greatest Hits album is the Only way to go. Also, I'm sure we'll also be hearing from those fans who have "secret sources" and all Side note, I read that the album is now available for pre-order. Anyone see that at play.com?

I personally don't really care that much about this release....unless there's a few new songs on there. Still, I don't know that I would buy it. I bought PTSWS at the time because I didn't own any Enya albums and this was a good way to get all her hits in one place + I got two new songs to boot! I imagine something similar will happen with this release (for new fans or fans that don't own any albums yet and need a place to start). But, I still consider speculating on the tracklist a fun way to spend a little time on it ;D I still imagine the bigger hits of the past will be on it, combined with more recent material. Whether there will be new songs on it, remains to be seen Love, Phantas

I think we need to understand that Aigle itself will decide exactly what songs were "Enya's greatest hits," and how they will determine that is entirely up to them. There may be songs in such a career retrospective that will surprise us. In fact, I'm pretty sure, once a track list is released, that there will be those saying that song X should have given way to song Z.
My ultra secret source tells me things will happen, shortly.................

I wish there was rather a rarities-album than a greatest hits album. There are wonderful songs I have never heard anywhere else than on the internet, although they really deserve being on an album. I would sign a petition for "'s fagaim mo bhaile" at once! On the other hand, releasing a greatest hits album isn't that a bad idea. The fact that PTSWS still sells fine shows that there is a demand for greatest hits albums. And if someone gets such an album he may want to have more Enya-albums to complete his collection.

I don't know if PTSWS sales show a demand for greatest hits albums, but I've always felt that album is so well done, in terms of everything. It features most of the hits in a spectacularly splendid way, it's great fun to listen to. The booklet is enigmatic in its own right, but with clear references to some songs/tracks...it's such a perfect package. I've felt that, especially after Amarantine, the album could be expanded with "hits" and material of the later albums, so I agree that the time is right for this album to appear. It's kinda like OTTC being an expanded version of Box of Dreams, but it would have been better suited to accompany this release IMHO - but it's still a great collection in its own right. I think both Aigle and Warner will come to some sort of agreement on the songs and tracks to choose from - I can imagine Warner wanting to cash in more on Enya's current success with the release of And Winter Came and perhaps make some suggestions on certain songs/tracks to be included. Only Time and TAWR will appear, no doubt about it, simply because the first one has been a major selling cannon of a song, and the second one being the big single of the latest album - MMTF also might appear on the album for it's quirkiness IMHO and because it is a catchy and fun song which stands apart from the original album. I think the major album which may pose a problem for this release will be Amarantine - what not to choose will probably the question! But I'm great with it either way - I have most of the songs and am not over excited about the whole think. Love, Phantas

Could the DVD be the Enya video collection ? It has documentary footage, though this could have been expanded to include recent albums as well.....It would make sense IMHO to include it in a way!
And yes, it could well be a prize in the next Loxian games if they are to come......

Silmaril spotted this: Wednesday, August 26, 2009, 11:57 am: A personal message from Roma in News Room of The Castle: Hello everyone,
It's been quite a long time since our last communication. I hope you've all had a chance to relax during the summer holidays. As you will see soon on the Home Page, Warner Music will be releasing a new 'Best of Enya' album this November 16th. They have asked Enya, Nicky and myself to choose the tracks, which we are in the process of doing at the moment. They will also release a special edition which will contain both DVD and documentary footage. I will keep you posted as we progress with this. Hope you've all been keeping well. Roma Ryan

Thanks Castiel!
I'm going to hold out for the special edition. I guess once we know the price of that, we'll get a better idea of what will be included on the DVD's.
Awesome news, indeed! Like I said elsewhere, I'm excited to see which tracks the Trio feel are their very best. It's nice to have something to look forward to.
