Getting vibes of 'Linkin Park' and 'Evanescence' from 'Blind Channel'. Vaguely reminiscent of early 2000s. Rebellion rock. Indeed, too bad some people accuse BC of copycatting Linkin' Park but honestly there are enough differences anyway. Normally I don't like this kind of music but this year's Finnish ESC entry is full of youth energy! Suvi

I like Coldplay's music before 2010. The easy listening alternative rock. I have not been listening to their latest works. Avril Lavigne did a cover of 'The Scientist', one of my favourite Coldplay songs.
Coldplay's 'Paradise' music video was shot on location in London (UK), Cape Town (South Africa), the Klein Karoo in the Western Cape and Johannesburg (South Africa).

I've been listening to the Spa Chanel on Sirius XM lately. It plays mainly quiet new age type music without lyrics, very soothing. Vangelis, Kitaro, Arkenstone, Metheny, Enya, George Winston, Clannad, etc.

Yes, I prefer instrumental music, too. The newst CD single by Coldplay has my favourite colour ! I immediatedly ordered it ! Apart from that I'm currently listening more to the "Tiny Magnetic Pets" (TMP), an Irish softer, a bit more pop oriented electronica group, they had been playing as ... what's the word ? prelude ? ... for the last OMD tour, at least I've seen them there. Their song "Girl in a white dress" has become my "earworm" again. I ordered a few cheaper EPs from them at bandcamp, because I thought that this would be a better way to support them ... to circumvent Amazon. JUst to try out how it sounds, I ordered the soundtrack of the movie "Oh Brother, Where Art Though ?" by the Cohen brothers. I have not seen the movie yet, but I was curious as what kind of music this "country music" would be like / would sound like. I love expanding my sound experiences. Edit : If you plan to listen to rthat sound track : That strange sound within the very first song is most likely not a problm of the disc, but rather from the movie, I suspect.

My two favorite artist are, well Enya, and the German folk band Faun. But only their first six albums. I absolutely can't stand their newest album. I feel they died a little when Lisa Pawelke left the band back in 08.
Non Enya artists:
Faun Hedningarna The Cranberries Wardruna Percival Clannad Lisa Pawelke John Denver Lord of the Lost Eivor The Cure Arkona Julie Fowlis

I am a 90s kid but I enjoy the Beach Boys, The Seekers, ABBA, Roxette, Neil Diamond and Kate Bush's music. It is weird because most of their music was released before I was born. I wonder what it felt like for people who listened to that music when it was just released...
Some of the music I listened to when it was just released includes: Bjรถrk, Florence + the Machine, Imogen Heap, Lorde, Imagine Dragons and Katie Melua.

I was thinking of contributing to this thread at some point, perhaps now is a good time...! ๐ถ There is plenty of music I enjoy, it could be quite a famous song you would hear on the radio, perhaps a song from a good advert, a song my parents might also like, a song in my mother tongue, a classical piece, or part of a film soundtrack or a TV programme I had watched when I was little. Some sub-genres: neo-mellow, soundtrack, glam rock, Celtic, reggae, and even 'British Children's Music' I do also quite like artists that aren't exactly credited as much for their songs, even if the contributed vocals to quite well-known songs. Maggie Reilly sings Mike Oldfield's Moonlight Shadow, Helene Jansen sings backing vocals for Haddaway in What Is Love, and Aloe Blacc sings in the Avicii song Wake Me Up. Most of the music I listen to is probably from the 2000s decade, though I agree that the 1970s were the best overall for recorded music. There are many great artists from the '70s; I listen to Queen and Bob Marley and The Wailers most from this decade ( Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions; Three Little Birds, Could You Be Loved). I do like artists from bands that originated in the 80s and 90s too (Katrina from Katrina and The Waves, and Robbie Williams from Take That, though not as much of their newest content). Some relatively famous songs I like from the 2000s or early 2010s are often considered 'cheesy' to some - e.g. Let It Go (from Frozen) by Idina Menzel, Bad Day by Daniel Powter, Fireflies by Owl City, and You're Beautiful by James Blunt. I could mention hundreds of great songs and artists, but it would be more of a long list, I likely only know very few songs from their wider repertoire. I like some aspects of pop, however I began to dislike the majority of mainstream pop, or new pop voices from about 2016 onwards, partly due to excessive autotune. There are still a few good music artists out there, but record companies now probably look for typically 'popular', quick-selling, artificial music, too many artists today just seem to comply with this Aside from that I like some new releases- I mostly like to listen to older artists who released new material in the last couple of years - the oldest would be Cliff Richard (Power to All Our Friends, PS. Please). Quite recently (about a week before my comment here) there has been an album release of music by a lady called Oksana Linde. She is older than Enya by about 13 years, but started making synthesiser music at a similar time, in the early 1980s. The album is called 'Aquatic and Other Worlds' is an archive of 12 pieces she recorded between 1983 and 1989. I discovered her through an article which mentioned Enya and Orinoco Flow - Oksana Linde is from Venezuela, and one of her pieces is the river's name, Orinoco. Some of her pieces have similar titles too, the music is quite intriguing, and somewhat in the mysterious, sci-fi like style of Enya's early piece, An Ghaoth รn Ghrian.
Finally, the solo artists who are most literally related to Enya are her sisters Moya and Brรญdรญn Brennan. Brรญdรญn is quite good at songwriting and Moya has a wonderful singing voice. Susan Boyle may also be slightly related; her family have roots in Donegal, she and Enya were born in the same year and are one of 9 siblings too. In slightly different ways they continue to be rather inspirational through their music ๐๐ถ

I love Northen Europe and its music. My favorite artists from that area are a finnish pop singer named Vesala, who sings in finnish ( a language that for me is beautiful), Anna Jรคrvinen, a finnish-swedish singer, who sings mostrly in swedish and Lene Marlin, a singer-songwriter, who had a huge success across Europe at the end of the 90s.
