An all-Gaelic album with genuine Celtic/Irish instrumentation would be great! Suvi I'm with Suvi here. I'd like to see the Trio return to their roots a bit. I'd like to see Team Enya's take on folk music, trad music, etc, and with a green album theme.

I have a feeling that a light shade of purple will be the main colour theme in Enya's next album. A more lavender or lilac (or the 2022 Pantone Colour of the Year, Very Peri) colour maybe, or a soft pinky-purple.
It would be similar to the ice stalactites in Wild Child, or the intricate flower in Only Time.

Haha yes, I also thought of the purple answer Another random aspect of the album cover could be the direction that Enya is looking towards.
Most Enya albums show her looking to the side/slightly up, but Dark Sky Island is looking down to the side.
Enya looking towards us/at the camera sort of correlates to openness of experience (Enya - as a new artist, A Day Without Rain - more carefree, Amarantine - reflective but open). I'm not sure if these interpretations really do mean something in terms of the album tone; just a few thoughts...

There's a small chance that Enya's next album could be released late in 2022, or 2023, or in a few years from now. (Or 2024 ) She might dedicate a song to her late brother Leon, or a piece remembering their late father Leo.
I think some themes linked to family/blood relations could appear throughout the album, as well as some more 'nature-relations-spiritual' โบ๏ธ

Enya's next album could be released next year (2022), 2023 or in a few years from now. She will likely dedicate a song to her late brother Leon, and also a piece remembering their late father Leo. Probably so, and maybe for all the others lost in the last couple years. I wonder if that would affect the overall tone of the album? More somber and reflective, perhaps?

This might also depend on when the album will be released. If it is next year, it will probably be reflect on quite a sad time because of the recent passing of Enya's brother Leon, who was only a year or so older than her. The album might have a more pensive but hopeful portrayal of Enya. True, I also thought that (quote above is mentioned on another thread)

I already found the last album's cover very dark ... I hope that the next one won't be that dark ... But, yes, I'd also like it to be .. purple ! ;D

Approaching new music videosAs well as new music (individual tracks) for the album, there could be a different approach to the music videos for Enya's songs. There were official music videos for Echoes In Rain and So I Could Find My Way from Dark Sky Island. These are more or less staged performances that Enya does alongside girls who appear as if they are also performing on the track (but not really). It's still nice that there is a video, but the approach is much less creative than every Enya music video before, and the setup doesn't quite do justice to the music, which Enya composes and sings all by herself. I'm not too sure how the aforementioned official videos were chosen, whether there were various performances and one was chosen as the official one, or if there was just one, and other versions seemed better. This live version of Echoes In Rain is really nice. It could be down to one's taste, but all the other outfit choices for Enya performing Echoes In Rain seemed nicer than the one for the official video. This video for So I Could Find My Way also seems more memorable than the official one to me. The official lyric videos and scenery videos (such as the one for Watermark last year) were a good idea and the styles were quite nice. The video styles should probably try and feature more of Enya , maybe just her and a piano if they'd prefer more a more minimalist approach. Something more elaborate might work too, depending on what the song might be. There are so many options, especially with the newer technology, there just needs to be the right directors, scriptwriters, etc. - people working in the industry who can do something different, beyond the mainstream. ๐ก Enya does something different with her music; official videos for these ought to be of a similar standard, enhancing the message of the song ๐ถ

My guess for the new album would be something about Sahara/desert fantasy. I just think that both Enya and S. Brightman have same theme in music
La Luna - Shepherd Moons Dreamchaser - Dark Sky Island Eden - Watermark And so on
Or it could be Gothic just like Tempus Vernum/Pax Deorum-esque The style of music videos would be animation of her singing or a cinematic.

But since many things happened to her, we might return to her 'S Fagaim Mo Bhaile times

reading the thread, I suddenly had the idea that Enya might issue a piano piece, dedicated to her father, and release that as a single... maybe aside of an actual song. Would be a change for her, but perhaps also it would fit as she veers to a more adult audience / more classical peers instead of the mainstream pop scene? Just a bunch of speculation on my part, but it would be a wonderful step IMHO. i.e. releasing a song for the mainstream pop charts, and then releasing almost simultaneously a piano track for classical charts. Being it a piece that becomes personal to her, it makes even more sense to do so, as listeners will HEAR the personal aspect in it.

How about any previous songs/instrumentals that might be revisited in the next album?
It would probably be one that hasn't been released as a single. Oriel Window and/or An Ghaoth รn Ghrian are two instrumentals that have been mentioned before. An example of a song that might be good to revisit is Someone Said Goodbye - or perhaps the remix version will be officially released on an album. There might be another song similar to Evacuee or Pilgrim too. I think some music from the early film project Enya worked on (The Frog Prince) could be developed on and appear in a new Enya album. I suppose that as well as listening to everything by Enya between The Celts and Dark Sky Island, Nicky Ryan probably re-listened to the early compositions too. Perhaps one of the early compositions Enya wrote could inspire a new song or instrumental track. An example for an instrumental track could be the composition titled Reflections. It has quite a nice melody and in an octave below it would suit Enya's voice now if she were to sing/hum a song based on this tune. (I noticed that the song Remember Your Smile from Dark Sky Island is quite close to the idea of Reflections - same key, similar bpm, slightly similar melody). An idea for the song Dreams could be that Enya now sings the song as someone who now has more life experience i.e. a similar melody but altered lyrics. The lyrics of Dreams always seemed quite intriguing to me, even though they were not written by Roma Ryan. (Charlie McGettigan wrote the lyrics to Dreams, and jointly won Eurovision in 1994 with this nice song I doubt he'd be asked to write the lyrics for a new version of the song now, but Roma could certainly have something written that builds on the idea of 'what are dreams?'Since then, many dreams must've been experienced, broken, fulfilled, and envisioned. It could apply to an individual, but also the whole world in few ways. Maybe something to do with this idea could be a significant theme in the next Enya album. ๐ก๐ถ

So many great ideas here!! All for the #purple colour scheme, more Celtic instruments, Oriel Window and other tunes revisited, title instrumental track, tribute songs, themes of moving on/persevering/dreams, and a release date some time within the next 2 years

I would love to hear more gaelic songs and more "gregorian/church" songs like "Cursum Perficio", "Tempus Vernum". I think the Trio is superb in that type of songs. A lot of people who know only the most famous songs don't expect those sounds from her. This is what they told me .

Well, for the cover, I think a new color will appear, which Enya hasnโt used yet, for other albums. Maybe a darker green color? Something similar to marble green? I like the idea of purple, too! For the songs, Iโm sure there will be a song/songs about the pandemic, or Enyaโs feelings during the pandemic. I think there will be some instrumentals, perhaps something similar to Willows on the Water. I imagine an album with happy and sad songs, too, something that refers to the feelings and happenings of the past seven years.
