More about the album title/cover๐ก๐ถ
This was my idea previously about the title/album cover concept: I still like this idea, but it had evolved into something different a few days ago... ๐๐ญ
A bit more abstract to guess, but it would likely have some link to nature, natural phenomena or space.๐๐๐ In short, my ideas for this: I imagine an album something like 'Solar Storm' or 'The Moonbow'. ๐ฌ๐๐ฎ๐ก I don't think I had heard of moonbows before searching about different natural phenomena, from this) ๐กI read further on moonbows, and also found an article here which mentions how artists of the past had captured the moonbow in poetry and paintings. ๐จโ๏ธ(A few days ago I was trying to write about why I thought the Moonbow might be a nice choice, but it logged me out when I tried to post ) Perhaps I will try and mention some ideas below ๐คEstimated release date *changed to 29th November 2024
Moonbow ๐ ๐ ๐
Friday 24th November 2023 ๐ฎ This was what I posted yesterday on the Fake News Thread, haha. It should be relocated, if it comes true! Just after that, yesterday, I searched 'Enya moonbow' out of curiosity, and I found people mentioning a Japanese character song from 1999, with a translated title of Moonbow (Song with lyrics translated here) An interesting coincidence - it sounds very much like it was based on Enya's composition of Orinoco Flow..! My general idea is that the title might be along the lines of Moonbow (The Moonbow, Moon Rainbow, Moonbows, A Moonbow, etc.)๐๐ ๐ฟ๐กI would be amazed if the title linked to this is what they choose! Though I'm sure there would be another great idea that the trio will have for the title of the album, and superb new music that we will finally hear from Enya again! ๐ฎ๐จ๐๐๐ถ๐ค

I just realised something about the Oriel Window comment from the Shepherd Moons 30th Anniversary watch party (the post here) ๐๐ก Another one of the comments (the one for As Baile, with the same tune as Exile from Watermark) had some extra words by Roma: Unless these are just extra ideas in poetry that Roma had for As Baile (Away from home, instead of 'From home...'), that could be a song title, and these words may possibly be featured in lyrics sung by Enya ๐๐ถ๐ฎ

Between the release dates of And Winter Came and Dark Sky Island, there are 2566 days (7 years 10 days) - the gap between Dark Sky Island and a new album would surpass this on the 29th of November 2022. That would be tomorrow ๐
I think if the coronavirus pandemic hadn't happened, there would have been a new album since Dark Sky Island. A vaguely linked point is that even with more free time off, there can be less motivation to complete things quickly, or even start. This may particularly apply to individuals who are Enneagram (or Enya-gram ) personality 'type 9' (I am 9w8, Enya is likely a 9w1, more of a perfectionist). If Enya was recording in 2019, she probably was intending to release something around 2 years after. However, because of the pandemic situation, Nicky (who is probably a 'type 5' ; Roma is a 'type 4' ) probably thought it would be better use of their time to update the studio. They would probably be more motivated to record in the refreshed studio environment of their own.๐๐ก๐ช A very well-put-together album within the next few years should be the result; hopefully a worthwhile wait ๐ถ

TR, why do you feel confident Enya was recording in 2019? Partly because Moya said so in this article. www.independent.ie/regionals/herald/news/we-are-always-together-says-moya-on-private-sister-enya-37863429.html She might have just said it in general, true, but Moya must also be very familiar with the recording studio business. I'm sure the sisters would have communicated with each other about roughly what they were doing. Also time frame-wise, for Dark Sky Island, Enya went back to recording in the studio in early 2012, then it was just over 3 years later that the album was released (2015). Maybe adding on another year or so because of the pandemic, there could very well be an album later next year๐ก I hadn't known about the Unity closure announcement saying about refurbishing the studio. Is there an archived page of it that can be seen on the Wayback Machine? Maybe they were making minor changes at first, but Nicky decided to do more during the time off during the pandemic. About the work being completed, maybe some tracks were almost done. Next they may want to do another mix or something with all their updated studio equipment, or even some at Abbey Road Studios as they had previously mentioned. It might be like how Orinoco Flow was originally recorded in the earlier Aigle Studio, but the final mix was done at Orinoco/Miloco Studios in London. It was just another random idea, not a complete assumption, haha. Still, I think it is possible that the words Roma mentioned could be somewhat linked to a new song on the album.

My general feeling is that Nicky is always refurbishing the studio. I think Nicky suffers from a common psychological disorder, highly prevalent amongst musicicans and producers, called GAS. His rare but frank discussions detail his addiction quite clearly. www.musicradar.com/news/7-stages-of-gear-acquisition-syndrome

As much as other artists are influenced by and/or sample Enya's music, she may also take slight inspiration from others' music too. (An existing example would be The Beatles for My! My! Time Flies!) For the next album, it is possible that Enya would incorporate musical aspects associated with rather different genres/sub-genres. ๐ก I think I read somewhere (as well as many hip-hop artists liking her music) that Enya had slight hip-hop influences in the music for Dark Sky Island; I can sort of hear it. There are occasionally some classic rock and perhaps jazz band elements throughout Enya's music too.Maybe add the saxophone in a song, since Enya can play ๐๐ท I was thinking that for the new album, something inspired by reggae/ska would be rather nice (a bit like The Police did with their songs), but even a bit of 'house', hip-hop, UK garage, R&B. Not completely deviating from Enya's style, of course, just subtle inspirations in the music. ๐ผ๐ถ

I forgot about this (see page 11): Click for document Between July 2017 and June 2018, they bought a new "API large format console" for the studio. So, some sort of studio refurbishment was already going on by 2018, possibly even in 2017. That was likely within the timing of Capital depreciation Tax allowance from the unit bought back in 2011-ish (I think) Even so you don't spend 500K unless you pklan to use it.

I think what RichardF said was right; they wouldn't spend something like โฌ500,000 on something that they are not going to use. They must have used it in some way since the purchase, but until the new album is released, they are unlikely to reveal what has been done in the recording studio.
Ah, this video Was 2017 also when the last Loxian Games happened? I think 2019 was the last time Enya was recorded speaking - the latest video was probably the 2019 Christmas message here ๐๐

Please, no more winter themed songs again. I believe we've had enough of them for the next 10 years.

Whether or not we have a new album from Enya in 2023, hopefully there will be a nice new music update ๐ผ๐ค I still have hope that this time next year, there will be a new Enya album ๐ค๐ถ Ideas-wise, I think it will have more piano-based tracks (and hopefully an instrumental too). Some songs that are very atmospheric with Enya's vocals and the string orchestra; new/unusual instrument choices; some 'stripped back' songs (maybe introducing acoustic versions of Enya's songs) and overall, it might sound a bit more modern, but remain timeless ๐ฅฐ ๐ฐ ๐ถ ๐

Just another post of thoughts and ideas regarding a new Enya album ๐ถ I was thinking about instrumental/ non-lyric pieces, some from games, children's TV shows, as well as those by Enya Recently I came across the term 'epsilon' (ฮต, the Greek letter) in haematology ๐ฉธ. (I'd heard something similar but unrelated; the Chrysler car model Ypsilon, haha.) Epsilon, resembling the letter E, is also the term given to the 5th brightest star in a constellation, and also the brightest of the plant Uranus' rings. ๐ I almost considered it as another Enya album title idea, but thought not after finding that there were a few existing albums with the name. Perhaps 'Epsilon' could be the title on an instrumental piece? An instrumental/song without lyrics would hopefully be fitting with whatever the album themes would be, and instrumentals are what Enya began with. ๐น๐ผ Alternatively, there may be a new song associated with a previous instrumental - the piece Oriel Window, which has been elaborated upon in response toย this commentย (the 1st, 2nd and 3rd being Enya, Nicky and Roma respectively). ๐ I also just found out that there is a place in Dublin called The Oriel Gallery, consisting of paintings by contemporary Irish artists. Maybe Eithne (and perhaps Persia and Ebony Ryan) would consider contributing their art to the gallery someday ๐ก๐จย ย The main songs seem to have a few more emotionally expressive phrases for titles with each new album. (They would have been in another language, like Na Laetha Geal M'รณige and Cursum Perficio from Watermark if so, or hints at 'grittier' meanings in a few B-side tracks - โS Fagaim Mo Bhaile, I May Not Awaken, Isobella.) Examples of the 'newer' (perhaps Amarantine onwards) titles include A Moment Lost, Someone Said Goodbye, Last Time By Moonlight, So I Could Find My Way, I Could Never Say Goodbye. I wonder if there will be more like that, although I wouldn't mind if they were more abstract or hidden. I think it would be fitting for at least one new Enya song to be sung in Irish/Gaeilge though, especially considering family who have passed on, likely more time spent amongst them too.ย I had this ideaย (before my university haematology module ๐
) that there could be a song by Enya with a theme of blood relationย gaol fola or something like the bloodstream,ย cรบrsa na folaย - the latter sounds like an intriguing title ๐ฉธ (I found those terms and others in Irishย from thisย ๐) There's another idea, perhaps not album-related just yet, but that Enya sings/performs something with some of her siblings again. The idea that Enya's brother Ciarรกn would have liked to record something with Eithne is interesting, but likely not with Nicky Ryan involved if so (it was from an article; it would be helpful if someone could access the link to it). I also thought Brรญdรญn might share something music-related again, or even be a secondary lyricist for Enya. ๐ก The 5 Brennan sisters (I also made this subreddit www.reddit.com/r/BrennanSisters/ ) if they recorded something new together, that would be very nice ๐ฅฐ Does anyone have any elaborate ideas regarding the content of an new Enya album? (For the album release date, I somewhat sense it will be released later this year or next year ... let's see (and hear)! ๐ถ

I'm forever waiting for a Moya - Enya collab. It's been sorely overdue I wouldn't mind at least one Gaelic track speaking of missing loved ones, since the family has had to endure I believe at least 3, if not 4 passings in the past year alone. (I know I've mentioned this earlier but having it specifically in Gaelic rings so true). I'd love a few more Loxian space tracks, akin to TFOTA or LTAP, or more earthy, romantic ones ala WSTHH. Even only one would be fine. Either one or two instrumentals depicting a seasonal or natural environment. Reflective in tone and melody or uptempo like TFOA. Overall though, I'll just let myselfbe surprised.

I could see a 'My! My! Time Flies!' sort of song lyrically more jokey. Possibly even songs with a subtle form of social commentary. ๐ก A song could feature a guitar solo, which may be fitting as a tribute to the late guitarist Pat Farrell.๐ธ Perhaps there will be some guest musicians. Maybe Eddie Lee who was their only guest musician for Dark Sky Island could be involved; also possible is that Aisling Jarvis (Moya's daughter; she seems to currently be touring and doing music herself) could have contributed? Or even Stewart Copeland, the drummer from The Police? Not-so sure about who/if there will even be guest musicians, haha. It would be quite nice to hear more real string instruments though, maybe even another violin solo like To Go Beyond II. ๐๐ป
